< About Coach Sho >
Shotaro Shimazaki, a native of Ome City, Tokyo, began swimming at the age of 6 and started swimming competitively at a young age. He has since been competing at a national level while he coaches his swim teams at Yokota AB, Tokyo. He’s trained in both Japan and the US and has won numerous awards. During his training in the US, he won the 6th place at US OPEN in 2017. In Japan he’s represented Team Tokyo and contributed Tokyo to win the first place at Kokutai Championships in 200m Medley Relay. From the World Aquatics Masters Championships held in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2023, he brought home two gold medals and one silver medal. He currently holds 4 individual World Records and 6 Japanese National Records in Masters (as of January 2024). He’s been featured in a Sports TV documentary program, FNN TV short documentary series and newspaper articles. He won gold medals in both 50m and 100m races at Tokyo Swimming Championships in June, 2024. He got immediately ranked the fastest breaststroke swimmer in Japan after the short course race. He won another set of gold medals for 50m and 100m at JAPAN Masters in July, 2024, breaking Masters World Records. He’s been a head coach of Yokota AquAvengers since 2020. His coaching techniques as well as his personality have maintained an incredibly high reputation from both his students and their parents.

横田アクアベンジャーズは、横田米軍基地に所属するジュニアスイムチームです。
東京を代表する現役競泳選手であり現マスターズ世界記録保持者でもある島﨑将太朗がヘッドコーチを務めるアクアベンジャーズ。最新の整備が整うオリンピックサイズの屋内プールという最高の環境で最高のコーチのもと、若いスイマーたちが一人ひとりの夢や目標に向かって日々練習に励んでいます。
スイマーとしてこの上ない恵まれた環境で、経験豊富な現役競泳選手による生徒に寄り添った細かいコーチングは高い評価を受けています。世界レベルのテクニックを学びながら、時には練習試合や合同練習への遠征を通して自分の可能性に挑戦し、アスリートとして必要不可欠な実績や経験を積んでいきます。

水泳を通して深めるチームメイトとの絆、友情、そして日本トップ選手から学ぶハイレベルなテクニックやスポーツマンシップは、若いスイマーたちの心身共に健康で充実したライフスタイルに繋がるとともに、これからの長い人生において、学生時代に必死になって練習に打ち込んだアクアベンジャーズでの思い出は、彼らの一生の糧になると私たちは信じています。

＜コーチ紹介＞ 島﨑将太朗コーチ
東京都青梅市出身。6歳から水泳を始める。水泳留学のため渡米し、数々のオリンピック選手を育ててきた有名コーチより指導を受ける。水泳留学中、2017年のUS OPENで6位入賞。国内では、東京都代表として出場した2017年の国体でメドレーリレーの平泳ぎを泳ぎ、全国優勝。現在も日本選手権、ジャパンオープンを始めトップ選手が出場する国レベルの大会に現役選手として出場中。2023年福岡で行われた世界マスターズ水泳選手権では、平泳ぎ２００ｍで世界新記録を樹立。金メダル二個、銀メダル一個を獲得する快挙を成し遂げた。現在、短・長水路含めマスターズ世界記録4つ、日本記録6つの保持者。スポーツ番組に単独出演したり、職場である米軍横田基地の広報にもその噂は広まり、世界中に遠征中のアメリカ兵が観るネットワークで、米軍の兵士、家族、子供たちに水泳を教える日本の現役競泳選手として特集された。世界マスターズ水泳選手権で世界新記録を出した際は新聞の一面を飾った。
2024年6月に行われた東京都選手権水泳競技大会では５０ｍと１００ｍ平泳ぎの両レースで優勝、二冠を達成。同競技にて、短水路平泳ぎ日本ランク1位をマークした。同年翌月に東京で行われたジャパンマスターズでも、５０ｍ、１００ｍ平泳ぎ両レースで世界記録を破るタイムで優勝し、東京都選手権に続き再び二冠に輝いた。

指導者としての経験も長く、アメリカと日本の両方での指導経験がある。現役選手というポジションを活かした知識と経験だけでなく、生徒の目標に寄り添った的確な指導と慕われる温かい人柄、そして若いスイマーたちが憧れるカリスマ的な存在として生徒からも生徒の保護者からも高い評価を受けている。
現在も現役選手としてトップクラスの大会に出場しながら、米軍横田基地でマスターズクラスとジュニアスイムチームのヘッドコーチを務める。
