Greetings NAFA Community,
I’d like to formally announce the 2022 NAF Atsugi Wings of Spring event! This will be a joint event between NAF Atsugi and JMSDF, and it will take place on Saturday, April 23rd, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will have static aircraft displays on both the flight line and Taylor Field and multiple booths where squadrons can sell their gear. Also, there will be plenty of food, music, and jumpy toys for the kids on Taylor Field.
As a joint event with our JMSDF partners, we want the JMSDF and our Japanese guests to fully participate and feel fully welcome. Accordingly, I am requiring mask wear on the installation during the event unless actively eating or drinking in alignment with Japanese policy.
With respect to who can come, this is still not a traditional Spring Fest. So, this will not be an open base event. Instead, anyone with a normal (daily) expectation of coming on the base is invited as well as their guests in accordance with our base guest policy which is up to seven guests. JMSDF family members and guests will also be in attendance as well.
I think this will be an absolutely fantastic day, I cannot wait to kick this event off! This will be the first event of this nature since COVID started, and I look forward to seeing as many people as possible coming out to enjoy this wonderful day.
Finally, I would like to extend a Bravo Zulu to our JMSDF teammates for their efforts in working alongside my team to make this a successful event! Also, Bravo Zulu to the combined efforts of NAFA’s MWR, Security, Fire, Public Works, Commissary, Exchange, Flight Line, and all other departments and service providers who have been working, coordinating, and supporting this event! NAFA, we have a great team—thank you for what you do every day! I know this will be a wonderful event for our families and our JMSDF partners!
