On World Day Against Child Labour, LWF Jordan joins the global call to raise the Red Card against Child Labour.

Child labour is not an isolated protection concern. It is closely linked to poverty, reduced assistance, limited access to quality services, and the lack of decent work and safe alternatives for families.

Findings from LWF Jordan’s 2025 Protection Assessment reinforce this reality. The assessment reached 409 households in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Za’atari Camp, and found that 77% of respondents reported the presence of child labour in their communities, with the highest rates reported in Za’atari Camp at 88.5% and Zarqa at 79.2%.

The assessment also showed that protection and livelihoods are interconnected. Economic vulnerability remains a structural driver of protection risks, while decent work, resilient livelihoods, and safe opportunities are essential to strengthening social cohesion and reducing harmful coping mechanisms.

LWF Jordan reaffirms its commitment to a rights-based, community-based, and people-centred approach that protects children, supports families, and promotes dignity, safety, and a better future.

في اليوم العالمي لمكافحة عمل الأطفال، ينضم الاتحاد اللوثري في الأردن إلى النداء العالمي لرفع البطاقة الحمراء ضد عمل الأطفال.

عمل الأطفال ليس قضية حماية منفصلة، بل يرتبط بالفقر، وتقلّص المساعدات، ومحدودية الوصول إلى الخدمات النوعية، وغياب فرص العمل اللائق والبدائل الآمنة للأسر.

وتؤكد نتائج تقييم الحماية الذي أجراه الاتحاد اللوثري في الأردن عام 2025 هذه الصورة؛ إذ شمل التقييم 409 أسر في عمّان، إربد، الزرقاء ومخيم الزعتري، وأشار 77% من المشاركين إلى وجود عمل الأطفال في مجتمعاتهم، مع ارتفاع النسبة إلى 88.5% في مخيم الزعتري و79.2% في الزرقاء.

كما أظهر التقييم أن الحماية وسبل العيش قضايا مترابطة؛ فالهشاشة الاقتصادية تُعد من الجذور الهيكلية لمخاطر الحماية، بينما يشكّل العمل اللائق، وسبل العيش المرنة، والفرص الآمنة عوامل أساسية لتعزيز التماسك المجتمعي والحد من آليات التكيّف السلبية.

ويجدد الاتحاد اللوثري التزامه بنهج قائم على الحقوق، ومتمحور حول المجتمع والإنسان، لحماية الأطفال، ودعم الأسر، وتعزيز الكرامة والأمان والمستقبل الأفضل.

CRPD at 20: Faith Actors in Strengthening Alliances and Countering Backlash to Defend Disability Rights

Represented by Islam Shdefat, Program Coordinator – LWF Jordan & LWF Syria, our contribution reflected LWF’s ongoing commitment to advancing disability inclusion through protection, advocacy, and community-based programming.

Drawing on our experience in Jordan and Syria, we highlighted the importance of building practical and trust-based alliances between persons with disabilities, faith actors, and civil society. True inclusion requires recognizing persons with disabilities as rights-holders and active agents of change, not only as beneficiaries.

The discussion also emphasized the value of connecting local evidence and community voices with national policies and international human rights mechanisms. In sensitive contexts, this local-to-global approach is essential to ensure that advocacy remains grounded in real experiences and translated into practical action.

At LWF Jordan & Syria, we remain committed to supporting inclusive, rights-based, and community-led approaches that promote dignity, participation, accessibility, and equal opportunities for all.

LWF Jordan is pleased to announce the signing of a new project, supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jordan, to develop the Naqsheh Workshop at the Aman Community Center in Zarqa.
The project will support local artisans, strengthen traditional craftsmanship, and create more sustainable livelihood opportunities within the community.

🥇 Girls take the gold… and LWF Jordan continues creating safe spaces for success, leadership, and empowerment.

AFDP Global and LaLiga organized the Spanish LaLiga Football Tournament in Za’atari Camp, with the participation of three youth teams from LWF Jordan representing different age groups. The participation reflected teamwork, determination, and positive community engagement, while also highlighting the importance of empowering girls and youth through sports and safe spaces that encourage participation and leadership.

The tournament also witnessed several individual awards for LWF Jordan players, in addition to Coach Basel Qaddah receiving the award for Best Coach of the Tournament. The award ceremony took place in the presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Spain, José Luis Pardo Cuerdo, and the management of Za’atari Camp, in an atmosphere that celebrated sportsmanship, teamwork, and youth achievements.

This participation highlights the importance of sports as a unifying space that strengthens social cohesion, provides safe and supportive environments for girls and youth, and contributes to girls’ empowerment, self-confidence, and meaningful participation within communities.

نظّمت مؤسسة تطوير كرة القدم الآسيوية ومؤسسة لاليغا بطولة الدوري الإسباني “لاليغا” لكرة القدم في مخيم الزعتري، بمشاركة ثلاثة فرق شبابية من الاتحاد اللوثري مثّلت فئات عمرية مختلفة، في مشاركة عكست روح العمل الجماعي، والإصرار، والتفاعل المجتمعي الإيجابي، وسلطت الضوء على أهمية تمكين الفتيات والشباب من خلال الرياضة والمساحات الآمنة الداعمة للمشاركة والقيادة.

كما شهدت البطولة تحقيق عدد من الجوائز الفردية للاعبي الاتحاد اللوثري، إضافة إلى حصول المدرب باسل قداح على جائزة أفضل مدرب في البطولة. وجرت مراسم التكريم بحضور سعادة السفير الإسباني خوسيه لويس باردو كويردو وإدارة مخيم الزعتري، في أجواء احتفت بروح الرياضة والعمل الجماعي والإنجازات الشبابية.

وتؤكد هذه المشاركة أهمية الرياضة كمساحة جامعة تعزز التماسك المجتمعي، وتوفر بيئة آمنة وداعمة للفتيات والشباب، وتسهم في تمكين الفتيات، وبناء الثقة بالنفس، وتعزيز المشاركة الفاعلة والعمل الجماعي داخل المجتمعات.

Za’atar remains deeply connected to identity, land, and everyday life carrying stories of dedication, continuity, and connection to community traditions.

من البذرة وحتى الحصاد، تعبّر زراعة الزعتر عن أكثر من مجرد نشاط زراعي، بل تمثل الصمود، وسبل العيش المستدامة، والإنتاج المرتبط بالمجتمع المحلي.

ومن خلال دعم المبادرات المحلية والممارسات الزراعية الواعية بيئيًا، يواصل الاتحاد اللوثري تعزيز الفرص التي تسهم في دعم دخل الأسر، والحفاظ على المعرفة المحلية، وتشجيع الممارسات الزراعية المستدامة.

Under the patronage of H.E. Abdel Moneim Al-Odat, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, LWF Jordan, in partnership with Al Hayat Center – Rased, organized the national conference:
“National Dialogues on Human Rights Priorities and the Promotion of the Rule of Law,” with the participation of Members of Parliament, political parties, civil society organizations, and national and international partners.

The conference aimed to strengthen national dialogue around human rights priorities in Jordan and provide a participatory platform bringing together key stakeholders to discuss rights-based issues and the promotion of the rule of law, contributing to stronger public policies and the advancement of justice and human dignity.

At LWF Jordan, we believe that inclusive dialogue, institutional partnerships, and civic engagement are essential pillars for advancing human rights, strengthening the rule of law, and fostering more inclusive, cohesive, and just communities.

تحت رعاية معالي وزير الشؤون السياسية والبرلمانية السيد عبد المنعم العودات، نظّم الاتحاد اللوثري ، بالشراكة مع مركز الحياة – راصد، المؤتمر الوطني بعنوان:
