Grantez Book Stall & Honesty Box

Morning all! As you can probably guess, we’ve closed the book stall for the Winter as the weather is too unpredictable and books were getting damaged in the wind and rain.

We will be back in the Spring, but in the meantime, I’ll be dropping £120.00 to Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey this week from donations to the book stall! Thank you everyone that has been by, we look forward to seeing you when the sun is shining again ☺️

Totally blown away by the incredible donation of children’s books I came home to today! I think every possible author and genre is covered here, so please pop by any grab some books and if you can leave a small donation to Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey, that would be wonderful!

Hi all! Although it’s been up all summer, we’ve finally sorted through books on our Grantez Book Stall so please do come on by!

Good morning everyone, hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

We’ve had to take the decision to stop the book stall for the Winter. This is a combination of weather related problems but also realising that someone has been stealing the money that people have been leaving.

We’ve raised £350 for Beresford Street Kitchen and £100 for Macmillan Jersey but last night interrupted a young person (wearing all grey) taking all the money from the honesty box where you leave the donations.

We can’t be sure who it was, but this isn’t the first time this has happened. We never wanted to put security cameras up but looks like if we choose to put the book stall out again in the Spring, we will have to invest in cameras.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated books or money, we really are so grateful and I’m just so sad and disappointed there is someone in our community who is willing to steal from charity.

We’ve taken in some of the books this evening to prevent them getting wet! The ones in the book stall are usually fine, but we’ve removed the ones from underneath. Please don’t leave any books under there in the coming days as I don’t want them to get soaking 🙈 Thank you! Stay safe and warm and dry ❤️

TWO DAYS LEFT to support Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey with our book stall. We had three bags of books dropped off this afternoon and I collected another three boxes from my work colleagues so there is plenty of choice available! Thank you so much to everyone that has donated books or money to this fantastic charity.

We made our first donation to Beresford Street Kitchen today! I’m so grateful to everyone who has been by and left donations of books and DVDs or money for the books they have collected. We sent £250.00 off to BSK this evening and hopefully there will be more where that comes from!

Hundreds of books still available, including some new donations left yesterday. If you’re a fan of Mary Higgins Clark, Rebecca Shaw or Virginia Andrews then get here ASAP! 😃

We’ve just been donated an incredible amount of teen fiction books by the lovely Karen! 🥰 If anyone has a child that is a fan of The Princess Diaries. Malorie Blackman, Cathy Cassidy, send them our way!

We’ve had another huge donation of books and DVD’s and we have no more space! Please come up and grab whatever you’d like so we can add more books.

Any Horrible Histories fans? Jacqueline Wilson? There’s also lots of new fiction paperbacks/hardbacks just been put out 😃

Any Disney fans in the house?? We’ve just had over 50 Disney books donated from one of the Beresford Street Kitchen crew 🥰

As you may know, the original plan for the book stall back in March was to give books away to the local community for free. People were so kind and started to leave donations when they took books. Although we are still happy for people to take books for free, we decided that any money left would be donated to Beresford Street Kitchen and so far we have raised over £130 for them!

I will continue to update with the amount raised each week and thank you so much to all who have supported us so far 😃

We’ve rearranged the books due to the miserable weather so hopefully they will be saved from the rain! Some have been taken inside to dry and be dusted off.

Still loads more to go out but these are the selection currently out.

Don’t forget, donations not necessary but any money raised goes to Beresford Street Kitchen 😃

To get to the book stall...

* Drive down Rue du Marais (Hydrangea Avenue) which is the left turning before Morrison’s in St Ouen’s Village
* Drive along until you get to the end of the hydrangea bushes
* Turn left onto Rue Henri Gonnay (it’s just after a red post box on the wall)
* Drive to the end and turn left
* Continue driving until you pass the 15mph Green Lane sign and the book stall is on the right. Park along the road and grab some wonderful books 😃
