Azaria Hill and Kaysha Love were once informed that they did not conform to the conventional image of winter sports athletes, but they are now making history together. The two initially met as teammates on the UNLV track team, prior to bobsled becoming a part of their plans.
After their collegiate careers, Love transitioned into bobsled and later encouraged Hill to attend a rookie camp. This invitation proved to be a pivotal moment. "When we first pushed together, it just felt right," Hill said. "She's made bobsled and coming in so much fun." Azaria Hill is undoubtedly a natural fit for the Olympic games.
Her mother has three Olympic medals in track and field relays, including two gold medals. Her aunt has two Olympic medals in the same relays, with one gold medal. Her father has a silver medal in boxing and multiple world championships.
As Black women in a sport historically dominated by European nations, their partnership represents a significant step forward. Love has achieved World Cup podium finishes, and together they are part of a new wave of Black athletes expanding representation in Winter Olympic sports, continuing the legacy of former track athletes who broke color barriers in Olympic bobsled. Hill credits Love with helping her adjust to the sport. "She's really helped me out a lot... helping me learn the ropes.
" Their friendship is a powerful catalyst for change, driving more than just speed. https://danieldmusicstore.com/blogs/stay-inspired/black-athletes-break-barriers-at-2026-winter-olympics (Photo: Azaria Hill / Kaysha Love / 2026 Winter Olympics)
