Understanding thermodynamics is essential in chemical engineering, but fitting everything into two A3 pages is impossible.
So I focused on the fundamentals and turned them into 17 clear points: the First Law, PMM1 and PMM2, the Kelvin–Planck statement, the Carnot cycle, and entropy.
This summary is part of my Fix the Concept series — a collection of engineering materials designed to make complex topics easier to follow.
If you want to download the full 2-page A3 PDF, you can find it here (free):

Do you still remember what the Reynolds number really tells us?
It’s not just a formula — it’s the key to understanding when a flow becomes turbulent.
This short visual guide explains:
- The difference between laminar and turbulent flow
-How inertia and viscosity interact
- The main Reynolds number ranges engineers use every day
Download the free one-page A3 PDF and keep it in your study notes or plant folder, it’s perfect for quick reviews!

Did you know CO₂ sublimates at –78 °C?
In cryogenic gas abatement systems, this detail can make all the difference.
When CO₂ solidifies before the main solvents condense, part of the emissions can still escape through the vent line.
That’s why real industrial setups often combine several technologies — cryogenic units, molecular sieves, or activated carbon — depending on the impurities to remove.
In my new article, I explain how these systems work and how to select the right solution for VOC and CO₂ removal 👇
