La Basilica di Santa Maria in Aracoeli è una storica chiesa del XIII secolo situata sul punto più alto del Campidoglio. La chiesa è famosa per una statua lignea del Bambino Gesù, alla quale si attribuiscono poteri curativi. Sebbene l'originale del XV secolo sia stato rubato nel 1994, è ancora esposta una replica molto venerata.
Il suo nome, “Ara Coeli”, si riferisce a una visione che l'imperatore Augusto avrebbe avuto in questo luogo, in cui apparvero una donna e un bambino, spingendolo a costruire un “Altare del Cielo”. Una monumentale scalinata di 124 gradini in marmo (costruita nel 1348) conduce all'ingresso principale. La leggenda narra che salire i gradini in ginocchio possa portare fortuna o aiutare a trovare marito.

The Basilica di Santa Maria in Aracoeli is a historic 13th-century church perched on the highest point of the Capitoline Hill. The church is famous for a wooden statue of the Child Jesus, believed to have healing powers. Though the 15th-century original was stolen in 1994, a highly venerated replica remains on display.
Its name, "Ara Coeli," refers to a vision Emperor Augustus allegedly had on this spot of a woman and child, leading him to build an "Altar of Heaven". A monumental flight of 124 marble steps (built in 1348) leads to the main entrance. Legend says climbing them on your knees can bring good luck or a husband.

Questa opera idraulica, costruita con una struttura cilindrica tra la fine del II e l'inizio del III secolo d.C., è stata riportata alla luce nelle Pozzolane Rosse, lungo via Cristoforo Colombo. Si tratta di un collegamento con la Via Appia. La cisterna riceveva l'acqua piovana che convergeva nell'orifizio centrale del suo coperchio impermeabile, comunicando direttamente con il corrispondente vano centrale della cisterna stessa.

This hydraulic edifice, constructed with a cylindrical configuration in the late second or early third century AD, was unearthed in the Pozzolane Rosse, along the Cristoforo Colombo street. It is a connection to the Appian Way. The cistern received its water supply from precipitation that converged into the central or***ce of its impermeable lid, directly communicating with the corresponding central compartment of the cistern proper.
