Just a quick word of thanks in helping me on a lifelong journey of playback excellence. Over the years I have trusted and benefited from your reviews and advice. My vinyl rig consists of gear that you have recommended, including the VPI HR-X with the 12.5 arm, Benz Micro Ruby 2 MC, and PS Audio Stellar Phono Pre, various interconnects, and now, as of today the Mat Chakra. I trust you. No regrets.
You wrote about the Mat Chakra in the May Stereophile. ​ In spite of the unusual comments and somewhat mystical claims from Alex Cereda (gotta love the Italian passion), you piqued my interest and I immediately emailed Alex, and after a few friendly words, I placed my order and the Chakra was at my door via DHL within the week. Impressive customer service. It was elegantly packed, including a nice lime green dust cloth with “Sublima Audio Research” and logo embossed into the cloth. ​ Catchy name.
But, maybe not so sublime, as I immediately heard a more profound difference (improvements) than I could have expected from such a mat. I guess it just reinforces the reality that “everything matters” in the audio playback chain.
I heard a bit more micro detail, including reverberant and ambient information inside quiet passages. ​ This added more depth and soundstage balance, which in turn of course raised the level of engagement in both the music and musicianship.​
I think the most telling thing is a phenomenon which defies easy quantification. With A/ B comparisons, I felt a goosebump factor with the mat in place vs without it. It’s that spinal shiver that runs up one’s back and neck and across the shoulders. What is that? It’s like a bodily confirmation that one is being moved and connected to something special. Maybe it is a PRaT thing, because I also found my me nodding my head more often as well. Maybe the best $450 I’ve spent in a while. Thanks for writing about this new product. Keep up the good work!

Solo poche righe per ringraziarla dell'aiuto che mi ha dato, nel mio lungo percorso alla ricerca dell'eccellenza nella riproduzione audio, che dura da anni, durante i quali , ho sempre avuto fiducia e ho beneficiato delle sue recensioni e dei suoi consigli. Il mio impianto per dischi in vinile è costituito da componenti che lei mi ha consigliato, e che include il VPI HR-X con il braccio 12.5, Benz Micro Ruby 2 MC, e PS Audio Stellar Pre Phono, varie interconnessioni e ora, il Mat Chakra. Mi sono sempre fidato di lei e non ho mai avuto motivo di pentirmene.
Ha parlato del Mat Chakra su Stereophile di Maggio e, nonostante i suoi commenti insoliti e le affermazioni un po' mistiche di Alex Cereda, (amo l'entusiasmo italiano), ha suscitato il mio interesse e ho subito inviato una e-mail ad Alex. Dopo qualche amichevole scambio di parole, l'ho ordinato e il Chakra mi è arrivato tramite DHL entro la settimana seguente. Un servizio clienti davvero impressionante.
Confezionato con eleganza, incluso un bel panno per la polvere color verde lime, con il logo "Sublima Audio Research" in rilievo sul tessuto. Un nome decisamente accattivante.
Ma abbastanza concreto, perché ho subito sentito una differenza (miglioramento) più profonda di quanto mi sarei aspettato da un Mat del genere. Immagino che rafforzi soprattutto il concetto che "tutto è importante" nella catena di riproduzione audio.
Ho sentito un po' più di micro dettagli, comprese le informazioni sul riverbero e sull'ambienza all'interno dei pianissimi. Ciò ha aggiunto più profondità ed equilibrio al palcoscenico sonoro, che a sua volta ha ovviamente aumentato il livello di coinvolgimento sia nella musica che nella musicalità.
Penso che il fattore più eloquente sia un fenomento che sfida agevolmente la quantificazione. Confrontando A con B ho avuto una sensazione come di pelle d'oca, con il Mat posizionato, piuttosto che senza di esso. È quel brivido che corre lungo la schiena, il collo e tra le spalle. E che cos'è? È come una commossa conferma del corpo che si è connessi a qualcosa di speciale. Forse è un fattore interno, perchè mi sono anche trovato ad annuire più spesso incosciamente.
Questi sono forse i migliori $ 450 che ho speso da un po' di tempo.
