August in Rome runs on its own schedule, and it helps to know what to expect before you're caught off guard by it.
The big closure to know about is Ferragosto on August 15th, Rome's biggest summer holiday. Most shops, offices, and quite a few private clinics close for the day, so it's worth planning around it if you have errands to run.
Pharmacies stay open on rotation. If your usual one is closed, look for the green cross sign marked "farmacia di turno," which tells you which pharmacy nearby is on duty that day.
The heat is no joke, so keep water on you. Rome's public drinking fountains, known locally as nasoni, are all over the city and completely safe to drink from. Worth getting into the habit of topping up as you go.
FirstMed stays open all month, every day except the 15th, weekends included, so you're never without care if you need it.
Need to see a doctor while you're here? Book your appointment with FirstMed today, we're open and ready all August long.Link in the comments below. 👇
