Been a minute, I’m still here 🤠
This is your sign to get some friends, bleed your brakes and go to a track day 🚗 💨

Infiltrated Germany and no one suspected a thing 🥸
Great to catch up with and sneak in on a Porsche run through the twisting roads of places I’ve never been. Maybe next time I’ll be able to get out of second gear 😉

I took my car up Mt Baw Baw (and Mt Donna) and it didn’t break down 🤭
Very glad to have had 2 days of happy motoring. Back to the shed now so I can try to work out why nothing went wrong 😶🌫️

Got around to installing some of my go fast parts that have been sitting on the shelf.
New rear anti roll bar, dampers and LED headlights fitted. These should (hopefully) help the car boogie through the hills a little better now.
Weather conditions didn’t favour semi slick tyres today, so stay tuned for some updates next week where I will be testing these and the range of my fuel tank 🏔️ 🏎️

As many of you are probably aware by now, the Mini is road legal! I have spent the last month fine tuning some engine and cooling options to ensure it is as reliable as I can get it.
Now the fun time starts dialling in the suspension. Today I started by swapping out the old, collapsed rubber subframe mounts and swap them for some much nicer and responsive billet ones.
More parts will be arriving in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

More photos from the 1993 Italian Job.
Still very jealous of all those involved with the event. At least I have these pictures and can pretend I was there.

From a past life:
The year is 1993, circuit racing in England just isn’t cutting it. The only option is to go open road racing across Europe by entering The Italian Job. Exactly as it sounds, leave the UK drive to Italy and back as quick as possible, whilst making sure to fly through the alps.
The black Mini pictured is now mine, shortly after my dad bought it brand new from Capitol Rover in Colindale. During the event, it’s claimed to have reached 135MPH down the Dottinghohe at the Nurburgring. No surprises, a new head was purchased after this.
By all reports, to attempt this now there would be far too many speeding tickets in the mail and too many cameras to get you in trouble.
I need to thank Andy from Play Mini for dusting off these photos and sending them over!

Good to go (Rd 2). More tinkering has been happening in another attempt to get the car legal. One of the complaints from the road worthy was that the car was too loud. This has been rectified by fitting a newer, bigger exhaust system consisting of a Maniflow large bore lcb manifold and 2” race muffler. Now that the air can flow out, I decided to feed more in with a new MED stub stack intake. All of this should help the 1380cc breathe better, which is why the Advan A048 semi slick tyres have been fitted too!
Fingers crossed there is some luck next week 🤞

Good: Stayed alive, managed to get the Mini across the city in pouring rain and peak hour traffic.
Bad: Carby needed a lot of love, as the car refused to idle.
Tomorrow: Time for RWC (Didn’t fail today, just didn’t make it out of the shop 🥴)
Thanks: Link Automotive for helping me out!
