Calcite crystals ✨

18th century Italian hand-carved and gilded angel wing, cross, and chalice combined with rare calcite crystals from the famous Elmwood Mine. They are examples of the world’s finest crystallized calcite. It is unequaled by those from any other part of the world (referenced from the “American Mineral Treasure” book, pg. 337). The mine is now closed and the calcite crystals are becoming increasingly rare.

Combined with the ecclesiastical artifacts, the museum-worthy crystals transform each piece into a new sculptural work - creating a historically and organically significant work of art.

Interi’s spolvero prints have become works of art in their own right. These were once used to create frescos in a palazzo like the one pictured or beautiful building throughout Italy. Now I present this collection of limited edition spolvero designs so that people can have their own fresco pattern in their own homes.

The Spolvero Collection ✨

18th century Italian spolvero fresco pattern printed onto canvas and framed with an antique molding frame and citrine crystals.

Spolvero is an artistic method of transferring a design from a print to the prepared surface of a canvas, panel, or wall. Holes are punched along the outlines of the original design followed by “pouncing” which is the application of powdered pigments that leaves a series of dots to create the tracing for the piece. This is then placed over the surface to be painted. This technique was initially developed in order to replicate recurring patterns or create frescoes and paintings. It was widely used in the 15th century during the Renaissance and many famous Italian artists used this technique including Leonardo Da Vinci. He even used this method to create The Mona Lisa.

Interi has established a large collection of original 18th and 19th century Italian spolvero prints. Each one was used to print a design onto walls in order to create frescoes and wall art in historic, prestigious homes. Now this spolvero print is presented and transferred onto canvas through the giclée method and framed with the antique frame and citrine crystals. Giclée is a fine art method that originated in France that galleries and artists use to create a print.

Although these were once used as a design method, the spolvero prints have become a work of art in their own right. Through presenting the collection, the pieces continue to preserve the history and significance of this Renaissance technique while each also creates a one of a kind work of art.

Abalone or “Haliotis Iris” are known for their iridescent and pearlescent features. The shell has natural forming baroque pearls. The hand-carved base originally came from a historical church in Italy. The gilded fragment is adorned and encrusted with baroque pearls and iridescent, pearlescent pieces.

The elements have been joined together to create an organic and historic, sculptural work of art.

Tides of Beauty: Exploring Historical Art with Ocean Elements ✨ featuring 18th century Italian miniature sculptural candlesticks tops with fossil agate coral. The candlestick tops originally came from altar candlesticks in historical Italian churches. Agate coral is Florida’s state stone and is known for its unique formation that can take place over 20 million years. It’s a natural gemstone that is created when coral is gradually replaced with agate.

Together they create sculptural pieces to grace any space. ✨

Sculptural 18th century Italian hand-carved and gilded base with a Chesapecten fossil shell formation and natural-forming baroque pearls with a pair of 18th century Italian gilded altar candlesticks with Chesapecten fossil shell formations and natural forming baroque pearls.

The Chesapecten shell clusters were found from the banks of the James River and are usually 3 to 8 million years old. Fossilized marine life makes up parts of the shell cluster’s matrix. They go through a meticulous cleaning and sealing process in order to protect and solidify the formations.

The Italian gilded fragments are collected, preserved, and transformed into works of historic and organic significance with the rare shell formations - creating historic and organic sculptural works to grace any space.
