Camera image quality in 2025 means nothing. I mean that almost all cameras nowadays produce great image quality. I can argue that gear matters, and it does, fight me if you want, but it’s not about image quality, it’s more about how overall the camera performs.

Last week I had the chance to shoot with a Leica Q3 and a Leica SL3. Both produce incredible image quality and most people could not tell the difference between a Sony photo and a Leica photo. And that does not include you Sony or Leica hardcore fanboys. The difference however is in the way the camera makes you behave. With Leica you really have to slow down because the camera itself is slow and it does not perform the same as a Sony. On the other hand people seem to enjoy slowing down, enjoy more the process of looking through the viewfinder or even the lcd and pressing the shutter. But faster and more precise cameras have their place too. And I love those cameras as well. Anyway the point is that gear matters, image quality is relative and I am on my path to understand why shooting Leica is so cool.
