MIGRATION CONCERN: Former President Goodluck Jonathan has raised alarm over the increasing emigration of Nigerian youths, popularly known as the “Japa syndrome.”

He warned that the trend is reaching worrying levels and could negatively affect national development if not addressed urgently.

Jonathan said, “The Japa syndrome in Nigeria has to stop,” adding that the “disdain shown to Nigerian youths abroad has to stop.”

He noted that while migration is a global phenomenon, the scale of youth exit from Nigeria is draining critical human capital needed for national growth.
