Introducing the Perceived Community Cohesion Questionnaire – Iraq version (P-CCQ)
As part of our Preventing Violent Extremism through Education (PVE-E) training, we are excited to use the Perceived Community Cohesion Questionnaire – Iraq version — a unique tool developed to measure how connected, respectful, and resilient our communities really are.
Adapted from an international tool, the P-CCQ was enriched with Iraqi community insights and co-developed with input from Kanaf’s founder to ensure cultural relevance and scientific rigor. The 22-item tool will be used before and after our PVE-E training to measure its impact on community cohesion.
Why P-CCQ? Why now?
Because strong communities are the foundation of peace. The P-CCQ helps us understand how people perceive trust, belonging, and cooperation within their local environments — essential indicators for preventing violent extremism.
The P-CCQ is freely available to researchers, NGOs, and organizations working on peacebuilding, inclusion, mental health, and community development in Iraq. Whether you're planning a program or studying social dynamics, the P-CCQ is a valuable tool for evidence-based work.

What is Preventing Violent Extremism through Education?
An educational approach aimed at promoting empathy and critical thinking among students, empowering them to contribute to building inclusive and secure communities.
Following its success in Nineveh, Anbar, Diyala, and Basra, the program is being introduced for the first time in Thi Qar and Salah Al-Din.
So far, more than 8500 teachers, principals, parents, and community leaders have been trained to work together in creating peaceful educational environments.
Together, we make change and build schools that embrace everyone and inspire the future.
