As the Kochi-Muziris Biennale approaches its closing, the question is not what has been seen, but what remains.
Naina Dalal: An Empathetic Eye, curated by Girish Shahane, offers a concentrated view of a practice developed over more than six decades. It brings together works across mediums, allowing for a reading that is both precise and expansive.
For those yet to encounter it, the remaining days present an opportunity: one that is limited, but not rushed.
The exhibition remains on view until 31 March at Burgher Street, Fort Kochi.
Curator Girish Shahane reflects on Naina Dalal’s practice, tracing the concerns, materials, and continuities that shape An Empathetic Eye.
Presented by Gallerie Splash as part of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale Collateral, the exhibition brings together key bodies of work across painting and printmaking, offering a focused view of Dalal’s six-decade practice.
On view until 31 March at the Yellow House, Burgher Street, Fort Kochi.

Closing Event | Portraiture Workshop
To register, visit the link in our bio.
Join us for a hands-on Portraiture Workshop conducted by Sushant, designed for young participants aged 12 and above. The session will introduce the fundamentals of drawing faces — observing proportion, understanding expression, and translating likeness onto paper. Participants will receive guided instruction throughout, and all materials will be provided by the gallery.
Conceived as the closing event of The Archiving Skin, the workshop extends the exhibition’s engagement with portraiture as a living, responsive practice.
Curated by Shreemoyee Moitra, The Archiving Skin brings together modern and contemporary artists who approach the human figure as an active surface — one that absorbs memory, emotion, labour, displacement, and lived realities. Across drawing, painting, printmaking, and fresco, the works by Arieno Kera, Naina Dalal, Prabhu Harsoor, Renuka Rajiv, Riya Chandwani, Rumit Donga, Shoneize Akhtar, and Vinay Gusain consider portraiture as a form of remembrance and inscription.
On view until 1 March

The Archiving Skin brings together contemporary and modern practices that engage portraiture as a form of remembrance. The exhibition considers the human figure as an active surface, one that absorbs personal histories, cultural memory, emotional states, and lived realities. Across generations and geographies, the artists assembled here approach portraiture as a means of holding what is often unseen, unspoken, or gradually erased.
Featuring works by Arieno Kera, Naina Dalal, Prabhu Harsoor, Renuka Rajiv, Riya Chandwani, Rumit Donga, Shoneize Akhtar, and Vinay Gusain, the exhibition spans drawing, painting, printmaking, and fresco. Bodies, gestures, and material surfaces emerge as sites of inscription, where memory and experience take visual form. Together, the works invite viewers into sustained encounters with intimacy, labour, displacement, domestic life, and interior worlds.
We look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition.

India Art Fair 2026 brought together conversations that extended beyond the booth walls.
At Focus Booth A13, Naina Dalal’s art fair debut invited close engagement with a six decade modern practice. At Gallery Booth J06, the works of Ekta Singha, Geetanjali Bayan, Inayat Malik, Kushala Vora, Mansi Trivedi, and Poushali Das prompted thoughtful dialogue around contemporary material practices.
We are grateful for the time, attention, and care extended to our artists throughout the week.

Presenting two distinct yet connected positions at India Art Fair 2026 was both ambitious and deeply rewarding.
At Focus Booth A13, Naina Dalal’s art fair debut drew significant attention and thoughtful dialogue. At Gallery Booth J06, the contemporary practices of Ekta Singha, Geetanjali Bayan, Inayat Malik, Kushala Vora, Mansi Trivedi, and Poushali Das generated meaningful and sustained engagement.
The response to both booths was truly overwhelming, and we thank all who spent time with the work.
