Horsehead and Orion Nebulas
The Horsehead Nebula and the Orion Nebula are two of the most famous cosmic landmarks in the night sky, both located within the Orion Constellation. While they appear near each other from our perspective on Earth, they belong to a massive cosmic structure known as the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, which spans hundreds of light-years and serves as a stellar nursery for newborn stars.

The Great Carina Nebula ::
The Great Carina Nebula, also cataloged as NGC 3372, is an immense and dynamic star-forming region located approximately 7,500 to 8,500 light-years away from Earth. Found within the southern constellation of Carina (the Keel), it is one of the largest and most complex diffuse nebulae in the Milky Way, stretching over 300 light-years across.

The EuroSuit is Europe’s new prototype intravehicular activity (IVA) spacesuit. It is designed specifically for high-stakes flight phases like launch and landing, or during on-board emergencies (such as pressure leaks) rather than spacewalks.French ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot performed the initial fit and dexterity checks on orbit aboard the International Space Station (ISS). She noted that the suit is at the "very beginning of its journey" and requires significant refinement before it is ready for deployment.

Pikachu floats in the the International Space Station's Cupola ::::
To celebrate the collaboration, a special Astronaut Pikachu plush was sent to the ISS. The plush orbited Earth from April 11 through June 17 alongside French ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot. Instead of a standard ESA patch, this unique Pikachu features a custom circular emblem with a lightning bolt tail on its spacesuit.
🌌Digital participation runs from Oct. 4, 2026, to April 30, 2027:🌌
⚡️Museum Gameplay: Visiting participating European space museums unlocks Astronaut Pikachu One-Star Raids, Timed Research, and special encounters with commemorative Location Backgrounds.
⚡️World Space Week: An enhanced gameplay kickoff featuring special wild spawns and Field Research runs from Oct. 4 to Oct. 10, 2026.Exclusive ESA x Pokémon apparel and collectibles will additionally be offered via official retail channels and partner museum shops.
🌌Museum Exhibitions & Open Days :::
The collaboration features a traveling exhibition with themed Pokémon panels explaining European space missions, which debuts during the ESA Open Days 2026 across major European facilities (including Paris, Rome, Noordwijk, Darmstadt, Villanueva de la Cañada, and Harwell) from September to October 2026 before touring regional science museums through April 2027.

🌌The Payload: The mission carried the 12th StriX satellite for the Japanese company Synspective. StriX is a commercial Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite designed to capture high-resolution imagery of Earth day or night, through any weather or cloud cover, to aid in disaster response, urban planning, and infrastructure monitoring.
🌌The Orbit: Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket liftoff occurred at 3:22 PM NZST. The Kick Stage delivered the satellite into its precise target 572 km low Earth orbit (LEO) roughly 53 minutes later.
🌌Milestones: This flight marked Rocket Lab's 96th Electron launch overall and its 17th mission of 2026. It also continued Rocket Lab's 100% success record as the exclusive launch provider for Synspective's constellation, with another 15 dedicated missions scheduled through the end of the decade.

NGC 7023: The Iris Nebula
NGC 7023, popularly known as the Iris Nebula (or Caldwell 4), is a striking reflection nebula located approximately 1,300 light-years away from Earth in the northern constellation of Cepheus.
While the entire flower-like structure is widely referred to as NGC 7023, the designation technically refers to the open star cluster nestled at its core, while the larger surrounding cosmic cloud of gas and dust is catalogued as LBN 487.

NGC 7293: The Helix Nebula
NGC 7293, widely known as the Helix Nebula, is one of the closest and most visually striking planetary nebulae to Earth, located approximately 655 light-years away in the constellation Aquarius. Spanning roughly 2.5 to 3 light-years across, its distinct ring-like morphology gives it the appearance of a giant cosmic eye, earning it the popular nicknames the "Eye of God" and the "Eye of Sauron" in pop culture.
