This is Fresh water body in my city Solapur, Maharashtra, India.

After investment to clean this pond to remove hyacinth, Hyacinth problem still exist (physical treatment)

Chemical treatment or physical treatment will not be applicable to such issue.

Eutrophication Process - is the process where excessive concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus are added to and cause death of fresh water bodies like lake and lagoons causing death of aquatic ecosystem.

Human beings are responsible for eutrophication process and death of fresh water bodies. Excessive use of fertilizer, untreated sewage, untreated industrial effluent are added to water bodies without any treatment due to lack of treatment process.

Nitrogen & phosporus are converted to organic matter and ultimately organic sludge.

This process has negative effect on health of water bodies as per below,

1) Sludge production
2) Increase BOD, COD, TSS
3) Odor nuisance
4) Death of fish and aquatic animals
5) Decrease dissolved oxygen
6) Increase plankton's and zooplankton
7) Ultimately death of fresh water bodies.
8) Control Hyacinth growth by reducing nutrients.
