*IGP Kashmir Zone Chairs Meeting at PCR Kashmir; Takes Stock of Arrangements for SANJY-2026 and Muharram*

*June 08:* ```IGP Kashmir Zone, Shri V. K. Birdi-IPS, took stock of the arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra (SANJY-2026) and Muharram observances across the Kashmir Valley during a meeting held at the Conference Hall of PCR Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by all Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSsP of Anantnag, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kupwara, Shopian, Bandipora, Budgam, Sopore, Handwara, and Awantipora, SO to IGP Kashmir, SP Cargo, and other senior officers.

During the meeting, officers presented detailed briefings outlining security arrangements, logistical requirements, and district-wise preparedness plans for the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra. Discussions focused on measures adopted to ensure the safety of pilgrims and the effective management of the pilgrimage routes.

Reviewing the overall security framework, IGP Kashmir stressed the importance of strict adherence to SOPs and effective coordination among all agencies. Shri V. K. Birdi directed officers to remain prepared for any contingency, including operational challenges, natural disasters, and other unforeseen situations, through a well-synchronized response mechanism.

Highlighting pilgrim safety as the foremost priority, Shri V. K. Birdi assessed the deployment strategy and preparedness of ROPs. The IGP Kashmir called for enhanced surveillance, regular area domination, and continuous monitoring of highways and vulnerable stretches along the Yatra routes. Officers were also instructed to strengthen nighttime security measures and maintain heightened alertness to deter any untoward incidents.

The IGP Kashmir further directed officers to conduct mock drills to test existing SOPs and improve operational efficiency wherever required. IGP Kashmir instructed officers to ensure comprehensive security arrangements at all Yatra camps, including the installation of surveillance systems at key locations and the deployment of sufficient manpower to manage pilgrim movement and respond to emergencies.

The meeting also reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the upcoming Muharram observances across the Kashmir Valley. IGP Kashmir emphasized the need for adequate security, effective traffic management, and seamless coordination with the civil administration and other stakeholder agencies to facilitate the peaceful and smooth conduct of Muharram processions. Officers were directed to remain vigilant, maintain close liaison with organizers, and make all necessary arrangements to ensure public safety and convenience.

At the conclusion of the meeting, IGP Kashmir, Shri V. K. Birdi, called upon officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, vigilance, and coordination throughout the Shri Amarnathji Yatra and Muharram period to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of these events.```

*Srinagar Police Attaches Properties Worth ₹4 Crore Under NDPS Act*

Srinagar, June 08, 2026:

Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing *Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan* , Srinagar Police has attached immovable properties worth approximately *₹4 crore* belonging to two drug peddlers under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

*Police Station Sangam* attached properties worth approximately *₹3 crore* belonging to *Gulam Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohammad Dar* , in connection with FIR No. 14/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act. The attached assets include a residential house, land and commercial shops. Investigation established that the properties were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.

In a separate action, *Police Station Nowhatta* attached a residential property worth approximately *₹1 crore* belonging to *Mohd Shafi Sheikh S/o Late Mohd Subhan Sheikh* , in connection with FIR No. 09/2018 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act. The property was identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through drug trafficking.

The attachments were carried out under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act to prevent concealment, transfer or disposal of properties derived from illicit narcotics trade.

Srinagar Police remains committed to dismantling narcotics networks by targeting both drug traffickers and the assets generated through criminal activities. Such action shall continue under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

*Imran Shah Visits Hailstorm-Hit Areas, Demands Immediate Relief and Compensation for Affected Farmers*

Anantnag, June 6:: Senior National Conference leader and vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, today visited the hailstorm-affected areas of Kawarigam, Teilwani, odsoo, Issoos, Kanganhal, kadpora and Brakpora to take stock of the extensive damage caused to crops and orchards.

Interacting with farmers and local residents, Shah expressed serious concern over the hardships faced by the farming community, stating that the recent hailstorm has dealt a severe blow to the livelihood of hundreds of families dependent on agriculture and horticulture.

Imran Shah urged the Government led by Hon'ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Agriculture Department, and the District Administration to immediately conduct a comprehensive damage assessment and announce a special compensation package for the affected farmers. He emphasized that timely relief is crucial to safeguard the interests of growers and prevent further economic distress.

Imran Shah said that farmers form the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy and must not be left to suffer in the aftermath of natural calamities. He stressed that every affected family deserves prompt assistance and adequate compensation for the losses incurred.

Reiterating the National Conference’s pro-people commitment, Shah stated that the party has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the people during difficult times and will continue to raise their issues at every appropriate forum. He assured the affected farmers that their concerns would be vigorously pursued until meaningful relief reaches every deserving household.

*GANDERBAL POLICE CONDUCTS MOCK DRILLS AHEAD OF SANJY-2026 AND ANNUAL MELA KHEER BHAWANI*

*June 07:* ```In preparation for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026 and the Annual Mela Kheer Bhawani,Police in Ganderbal conducted series of comprehensive mock drills in the last week at various strategic locations across the district to assess operational readiness, emergency response capabilities, and inter-agency coordination.

The exercises were carried out at Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple, Wussan Pandit Colony, Manigam Pandit Colony, Wandhama Pandit Colony, and Sonamarg, involving the joint participation of Ganderbal District Police, SOG, Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, SDRF, Health Department, Fire & Emergency Services, and other security agencies.

A dedicated mock drill was also conducted at Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple in connection with the upcoming Annual Mela Kheer Bhawani, aimed at assessing security preparedness, emergency response mechanisms, crowd management, evacuation procedures, and inter-agency coordination for the smooth and safe conduct of the religious event.

The mock drills simulated various emergency scenarios to evaluate the preparedness of security forces, response mechanisms, evacuation procedures, and coordination among stakeholders. The exercises were conducted smoothly and successfully, demonstrating a high level of alertness, professionalism, and synergy among the participating agencies.

'Prepare DPRs for Auditoriums at Bandipora, Baramulla, Beerwah and Kupwara': Union Culture Ministry Responds to MP Er Rashid's Demand

Srinagar, June 07: The Union Ministry of Culture has advised the concerned implementing agencies in Jammu & Kashmir to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and other requisite documents for the proposed auditoriums at Bandipora, Baramulla, Beerwah and Kupwara, following the intervention of Member of Parliament Er Rashid, who had raised the issue with the Union Finance Minister seeking financial assistance for these important cultural infrastructure projects.

Sharing details of the communication received from the Ministry of Culture, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that Er Rashid, in his letter addressed to the Union Finance Minister, had sought financial assistance for the construction of auditoriums in Bandipora, Baramulla, Beerwah and Kupwara, besides release of funds for completion and finishing works of the already constructed auditorium at Hangah, Handwara.

The Ministry, in its response, informed the MP Er Rashid that the issues raised by him have been examined and that the scheme "Financial Assistance for Creation of Tagore Cultural Complexes (TCCs)" is undergoing a revamp, while a new scheme comprising infrastructure-related components, including Tagore Cultural Complexes, is presently under finalisation.

Quoting from the Ministry's communication, Inam Un Nabi said that the Ministry has advised the concerned agencies to "prepare the detailed project proposals, including DPRs, technical estimates, land status, details of executing agency and present status of works for submission to this Ministry for consideration under the fresh scheme, as and when the revised scheme guidelines are notified."

Inam Un Nabi termed the response a significant and encouraging development for North Kashmir and said it reflects MP Er Rashid's continued efforts to pursue developmental projects for the people of the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency.

He said the proposed auditoriums would provide much-needed infrastructure for cultural, literary, educational and social activities across the region, while the completion of the auditorium at Hangah, Handwara would fulfil a long-pending public demand.

The AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi urged the concerned departments, district administrations and implementing agencies to immediately begin preparation of DPRs and other required documentation so that these projects are in a position to secure funding as soon as the revised scheme is notified by the Government of India.

Inam Un Nabi reiterated that Er Rashid remains committed to raising developmental issues of public importance before the concerned ministries and ensuring that the aspirations of the people of North Kashmir receive due attention.

*Anti-Drug Enforcement Drive Continues in PD Sopore under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan; Wild Cannabis Destroyed*

*June 06:* ```In continuation of the sustained anti-drug enforcement drive under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police carried out another action against the wild growth of narcotic plants in the jurisdiction of Police Station Panzalla.

Acting on credible information regarding the presence of wild cannabis (bhang/bung) in the Rohama area of Rafiabad, a joint team comprising officials from the Police, Revenue and Excise Departments conducted a destruction drive at the identified location.

During the operation, wild cannabis growing over a considerable area was identified and destroyed on the spot after completing all requisite legal formalities. Samples were collected and seized for further examination.

The action forms part of the continuous drive being undertaken by Sopore Police to identify and destroy wild growth of narcotic plants across the district and eliminate potential sources of drug abuse and illicit narcotics.

J&K Police reiterated that cultivation, possession, transportation, or illegal use of narcotic substances is a serious offence under the NDPS Act, and strict legal action shall be taken against those found involved.

*Anantnag Police Conducts Narco Raids in Tulkhan and Chadoora Budgam*

Anantnag, 06 June 2026: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and the narcotics network, Anantnag Police conducted a series of raids in connection with the investigation of FIR No. 138/2026 under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bijbehara.

As part of the investigation, police teams carried out searches at the residential houses of Abdul Gani Dar S/O Ali Mohammad Dar and his brother Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, both residents of Tulkhan. Simultaneously, a search was also conducted at the residence of Sajad Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Ahmad Bhat R/O Deedmaribagh, Chadoora, Budgam. The searches were conducted after obtaining search warrants from the competent court and were executed strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.

It is pertinent to mention that the case pertains to the recovery of 4.465 kilograms of Charas from a vehicle bearing registration number JK04D-2959, which was intercepted by a naka party of Police Station Bijbehara on NH-44.

Investigation into the case is progressing, and all forward and backward linkages connected with the narcotics network are being thoroughly examined. Anantnag Police remains committed to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and dismantling the ecosystem supporting the menace of narcotics.

*June 06:* ```Continuing its sustained efforts under the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Pulwama carried out a series of enforcement, preventive, and awareness activities aimed at curbing the drug menace and strengthening community participation.

In a significant action, Police in Pulwama retrieved four properties that had been encroached upon by drug peddlers in the areas of Marval and Khadermoh. The action forms part of the sustained drive against individuals involved in narcotics-related activities and reflects the commitment of J&K Police to dismantle networks supporting the drug trade.

As part of the regulatory and preventive measures under the campaign, inspections of several medical shops were also carried out to ensure compliance with prescribed norms relating to regulated drugs and medicines.

On the awareness front, an anti-drug awareness programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Kakapora, where students and staff were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of collective efforts in building a drug-free society.
