📊 Lack of Industrialisation Behind Tripura’s Low Credit-Deposit Ratio
Agartala | May 2, 2026
Tripura continues to face a declining Credit-Deposit Ratio (CDR), primarily due to the lack of industrialisation in the state. Speaking at a press conference in Agartala, Tripura Gramin Bank Chairman Satyendra Singh highlighted that limited industrial activity has significantly reduced the demand for large-scale loans.
According to the State Level Bankers’ Committee report, the state’s CDR has shown a downward trend over the past three financial years — dropping from 52% in 2023–24 to 50% in 2025–26. The absence of sufficient industries and processing centres has made it difficult for banks to expand lending compared to other states.
Despite the broader trend, Tripura Gramin Bank has managed to improve its own performance, increasing its CDR from 36.44% in 2022–23 to 41.63% in 2025–26. The bank reported total deposits of ₹15,422 crore and a consolidated profit of ₹184.84 crore during the last fiscal year.
However, there is optimism for the future. With ongoing infrastructure investments in the state, experts believe that industrial growth will pick up, leading to increased loan demand and an improved CDR in the coming years.

Oath taking ceremony at kokchap Nok
All Bengali print and digital media are blaming TSF and students instead of questioning the incompetent Chief Minister, who assured last year that this issue would be resolved immediately.
They don't talk about the problems students are facing in exams—because it doesn't affect them. But when it comes to the use of the Roman script instead of Bengali, they suddenly start barking
We are not asking to replace Bengali with English; we are simply requesting an option for English-medium students to write in the Roman script. Some people keep asking, "What's the problem with Bengali?" To them, I ask—how would you feel if you were forced to write Bengali in Hindi script?
