Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the amazing women behind Harela Community Shop.
These women from our villages come together to prepare homemade pickles, spices, jams, chutneys, and many other handmade products. With patience and traditional knowledge passed down through generations, they create each product with great care.
Harela is not just about products — it is about women supporting each other, learning together, and slowly building confidence and independence through their work.
On this Women’s Day, we are proud to celebrate their strength, dedication, and the beautiful traditions they continue to keep alive.

Forests are not only habitats for wildlife — they are lifelines for communities. On 11 September, India observes National Forest Martyrs Day to remember the forest staff who gave their lives protecting these landscapes.
Their efforts safeguard more than trees and rivers. They protect the soil that grows our food, the plants that heal us, and the clean air and water that sustain daily life. For many villages, forests remain the foundation of survival and culture.
At Harela Community Shop, we honour their sacrifice with gratitude. Protecting forests also means protecting traditions, livelihoods, and future generations. On this day, let us remember that living in balance with nature is the best tribute we can offer.

Champion was not only admired globally but also deeply respected by local communities, who remember his kindness, knowledge, and efforts to protect nature. At Harela Community Shop in Ringora village, near Corbett Tiger Reserve, we honor his legacy by empowering local women to create handmade products sustainably, supporting both nature and community.
