What if we treated Precalculus not as a gatekeeper, but as a gentle bridge?
I had the privilege of presenting my paper at the Mathematics Teachers' Association (MTA) Annual Conference at Azim Premji University, where I made a case for introducing Precalculus as a structured subject starting from Grade 9.

Why? Because too many science students meet functions, limits, and algebraic abstraction after the storm has already begun in Grade 11. By then, the pressure is high and the runway is short.

Early exposure to foundational ideas—functions, transformations, coordinate systems, rates of change—can help students make sense of Physics, Chemistry, and even Biology with far less cognitive overload.

It’s not about rushing into Calculus. It’s about laying conceptual tracks early enough so students can build, connect, and explore without fear.

Big thanks to MTA and APU for creating spaces where math teachers can think beyond the textbook.
