Here, we held space for reflections, ideas, feedback, and commitments for the photovoice journaling project that this incredible group of 23 gender minority development sector professionals from Mumbai will undertake. The objective? To understand how climate change affects them at work.

Climate change has devastating consequences for India, disproportionately so for historically marginalised communities, many of whom depend directly on the environment or serve as stewards against the climate crisis.

This includes development sector workers, who are often tasked with ‘fixing’ climate change while actively being affected by it.

📢 Colleagues in the development sector across Maharashtra!

We need your help to understand the impact of climate change on development sector workers in the region, so we can use the evidence to advocate for better labour protections and practices!

Presenting our survey for our Climate, Development Labour, and Gender study, a 20 minute exercise for development sector workers of all genders across urban Maharashtra.

We encourage you to respond if you:
➡️ Work in the Greater Mumbai, Nashik, Nagpur, or Pune areas
➡️ Work in an NGO, a philanthropy, a public sector org, a social enterprise, an academic institution, as a freelancer, or in another way in the development sector.
➡️ Know English, Hindi, or Marathi (translations of the survey are coming soon!)

📢 Looking for survey enumerators across Maharashtra!

If you’ve been following our work, you already know that we’re conducting a research study on climate, development labour, wellbeing and gender supported by the Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA) Small Grants Program 2025.

As part of this study, we are looking to onboard enumerators to help us reach a large number of a specific niche - development sector workers in urban Maharashtra - with a detailed survey.

Yesterday, Arshiya hosted One Future Collective’s alumni community meet up at Dialogues Cafe in Bangalore. Year-on-year, this is a space for us to come together for a playful mix of conversation and reflection. In true fashion, there were lots of laughs and snacks!

🌱 Earlier this month, we launched an intentional, community-led mutual aid effort that directs resources and care to trans folks. This small mutual aid community already has 13 members and has contributed to two fundraisers.
