DHAKA DIARIES 🌟✨

Site Zone no. 1 - Gazipur : COTTAGES AND SUITES

Aimed to break the monotony of long boring corridors usually seen in hotels, the ‘connectors’ of these cottage units are designed in a jagged manner so as to create openings after every couple of units; some overlooking the central poolside and some towards the outside forested area and farmlands. Some units are G+2 whereas some are G+3.

The corridors are divided at intervals so as to create atria with trees rising throughout till the topmost storey.

They are well lit as well as naturally ventilated by the intermittent gaps which keep them cool during peak summers.

DHAKA DIARIES 🌟✨

Site Zone no. 1 - Gazipur : VILLA SCHEME

These 2, 3, 4 and 5 Bed villas are a direct translation of going soft on the intricacies of traditional Thai architecture and inducing minimalism yet maintaining the distinct key elements which retain the Thai charm.

The bedroom jutting out at an angle on the upper level, shades the pool below. The semi private dining overlooking the fields can be left open from three sides to enjoy summer evenings and also can be enclosed during rains.

With the double height cross ventilated living rooms having large windows opening onto the pool side, the idea was to give the patrons, a feel of sitting on the living floor; dipping their feet in the pool and listening to the birds chirping; with a wine glass in hand!

Paradise!! no??!! 😉

DHAKA DIARIES 🌟✨

*Site Zone no. 1 - Gazipur : MASTER LAYOUT*

This contoured site is located in Gazipur which is a few hours drive away from Dhaka. This is an agricultural land permitted with an FSI / FAR of around 0.5 after change of use.

The concept is based on a blend of ‘THAI + CONTEMPORARY’ language as per clients’ love for Thailand and his need to have something different which locals have not seen before in the region.

With a clear division between the resort portion (left) and villa scheme (right), the client brief strictly required the villas to be facing the east.

Since the site is contoured, the plot was pre- divided by the client. The villa scheme is planned in such a way that all private pool villas in two staggered levels, overlook the lush green farm lands on the right.

To the left, is the resort portion designed keeping in mind the concept of a ‘STREET’ with non air conditioned jagged corridors peeping into the forest as well as central pool area, at regular intervals. Main functions occupy the top and central portion and services tucked at the back shielded from a restaurant deck which opens up into the forest.
