A sudden market inspection drive was conducted at various wholesale, retail shops & petrol pumps across Chandel District, Manipur under the guidance of Director CAF&PD Yumnam Nelson accompanied by DSO Chandel district Nongmaithem Nicky and AD Chandel district Thoudam Chittaranjan Singh to enforce compliance with the revised prices of essential commodities. During the inspection, all traders, wholesalers, petrol pumps owners and retailers were strictly warned to adhere to the prescribed rates and maintain fair trade practices, failing which necessary action would be taken under the relevant provisions of law.(27/05/2026)

The updated price list of essential commodities for Bishnupur and Kakching Districts has been issued for public information and market monitoring purposes. The list contains the prevailing retail prices of commonly used essential commodities to ensure price transparency, prevent overcharging, and facilitate effective regulation of the market in the interest of consumers across both districts.

A surprise inspection drive was conducted at wholesale and retail shops across Imphal West District, Manipur, to enforce compliance with the revised prices of essential commodities. All traders, wholesalers, and retailers were warned to strictly adhere to the prescribed rates. Any unauthorized price increase, overcharging, or violation detected will invite strict legal action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 without further notice.(25/05/2026)

Revised Wholesale & Retail Prices of 18 Essential Commodities issued under Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 shall come into force with immediate effect until further orders.

All wholesalers, retailers, and concerned persons are directed to strictly comply with the revised rates. If any price increase beyond the prescribed rates is found, strict action will be taken against the defaulters.

A surprise inspection was conducted jointly by the Department of CAF & PD and the Weight & Measures Department, Manipur, at Naga Mapal and Thangal Bazar on 25.05.2026 starting from 8:00 AM, with special focus on the sale and pricing of onion and potato. During the inspection, shopkeepers were checked for proper weighing practices, stock position, rate display, and compliance with the prescribed norms. Shopkeepers were strictly warned against overpricing, use of inaccurate weighing instruments, hoarding, and other unfair trade practices. It was also informed that strict action shall be taken against any violators found indulging in such malpractices.

The Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department is conducting routine inspections at petrol pumps across the districts to ensure proper fuel quality and supply. The public is requested not to panic or rush for fuel, as adequate stock is available. Strict action will be taken against any violation or malpractice(19/05/2026).
