The world isn't just witnessing wars.

It may be witnessing the end of an entire global order.
In this conversation with Nidhi Razdan, Michael Feller, former Australian diplomat and Chief Strategist at Geopolitical Strategy, argues that we're living through a "geopolitical interregnum".

An era where the US-led world order is fading, but a new one has yet to take shape.
What does that mean for India?

Can strategic autonomy survive in a world where major powers are becoming less predictable? And how should India protect its economy, security, and global interests as the balance of power shifts?

The world is entering a new geopolitical era.
The Russia-Ukraine War continues with no clear end in sight, while the US-Iran conflict has deepened uncertainty across the Middle East.

As global power shifts accelerate, countries like India face difficult questions about diplomacy, energy security, trade, and strategic autonomy.

In this episode of India & The World, Nidhi Razdan speaks with Suhasini Haider, Diplomatic Editor at The Hindu, and Michael Feller, former Australian diplomat and Chief Strategist at Geopolitical Strategy, about how the changing world order could reshape India's foreign policy.

The discussion covers:
• Russia-Ukraine War and its global impact
• US-Iran conflict and Middle East geopolitics
• Is the rules-based international order breaking down?
• Can the United Nations still influence world affairs?
• BRICS vs QUAD: What role do these groupings play?
• India's strategic autonomy in an increasingly divided world
• How global conflicts affect India's economy, energy security, trade, and connectivity
• Should India rethink its foreign policy priorities in a multipolar world?

The Russia-Ukraine war continues. Tensions between the US and Iran are escalating. The rules-based international order is under pressure.

Is this just another geopolitical crisis or are we entering a world where conflict becomes the new normal?

In the latest episode of India & The World, Nidhi Razdan is joined by Suhasini Haider, Diplomatic Editor at The Hindu, and Michael Feller, former Australian Diplomat and Chief Strategist at Geopolitical Strategy, to discuss how these global conflicts could reshape India’s foreign policy, strategic autonomy, and place in an increasingly uncertain world.

Why did the RJD fail to make an impact in the Bankipur by-election?

In this conversation with Manish Kumar, Prashant Kishor argues that political leadership must remain on the ground during elections. Referring to Tejashwi Yadav’s absence during the campaign, he says voters expect their leaders to stand with them at crucial moments.

At the same time, Prashant Kishor says he does not see himself replacing the opposition. Instead, he says his role is to continue working among the people, raising public issues both inside and outside the Assembly.

On paper, India’s economy looks healthy.

Growth is holding up. Banks are lending. Credit is expanding.
But look one layer deeper, and a different story begins to emerge.

Behind the headlines lies a rapid rise in household borrowing, with gold loans becoming one of the fastest-growing retail loan segments. For many families, gold isn’t just an investment anymore. It’s becoming a financial lifeline.

In this episode, Yashodhara explains why the real risk isn’t visible in the headline numbers, and why India’s growing dependence on gold loans deserves closer attention.

The world is becoming increasingly volatile.

The Russia-Ukraine war continues with no clear end in sight. Tensions involving Iran and the United States remain high. As major powers compete for influence, countries are being forced to rethink their strategic choices.

Where does that leave India?

Can India continue to pursue strategic autonomy in an increasingly polarised world? Can it protect its economy, energy security, and diplomatic interests without being drawn into competing geopolitical blocs? Can India continue to balance its relationships with rival global powers, or is that becoming increasingly difficult?

In the next episode of India & The World, Nidhi Razdan explores these questions and what they could mean for India’s foreign policy in the years ahead.

Prashant Kishor: "BJP's Arrogance Cost Them Bihar"

Has the BJP's leadership style in Bihar alienated its own allies and voters?

In this conversation with Manish Kumar, Prashant Kishor argues that the BJP's growing "arrogance" became visible in its political messaging, from sidelining Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in campaign material to centralising decision-making around the party's top leadership.

He also claims that Bihar's voters rejected the perception that leadership could be imposed from Delhi, arguing that electoral success in the state depends on local political realities.

Do governments change course only when public pressure becomes impossible to ignore?

In this conversation with Manish Kumar, Prashant Kishor argues that governments often appear uncompromising, but eventually adapt when they face sustained public opposition.

To support his point, he cites examples including the repeal of the farm laws, the withdrawal of the land acquisition ordinance, the government's response to the CAA-NRC protests, reservation-related protests, and the recent student movement.

According to Prashant Kishor, political power ultimately depends on public support, and when citizens mobilise in large numbers, governments are compelled to respond.

Should India increase the strength of the Lok Sabha from 543 seats to around 850?

Supporters argue that more MPs would reduce the number of voters each representative serves, improve accessibility, and make room for women’s reservation without reducing existing seats. Critics, however, question whether simply adding more MPs will solve Parliament’s deeper challenges.

In this episode, Dorab R. Sopariwala joins Manika Raikwar to discuss:

• Why the proposal to expand Parliament is being considered
• Whether more MPs actually mean better representation
• How India’s Parliament compares with the UK and other democracies
• Why parliamentary sittings have declined over the decades
• Why committee scrutiny matters before passing laws
• Whether India needs a bigger Parliament or a better-performing one

Would increasing the number of MPs strengthen Indian democracy, or should the focus be on improving how Parliament functions?

The Michigan Democratic primary remains a closely watched contest as counting nears completion.

With 95% of votes counted, Abdul El-Sayed continues to hold the lead with 735,625 votes (48.6%), while Haley Stevens has 716,222 votes (47.4%).

With only a small share of ballots left to be counted, attention is now on whether the remaining votes will alter the outcome or cement Abdul El-Sayed’s lead in one of the marquee Democratic primaries of the 2026 U.S. Midterm Elections.
