आज हर कोई अपने प्रभु श्रीराम और माता सीता के स्वागत् में लगा हुआ है। पर क्या आप लोग जानते है की राम लला की मूर्ति जो अयोध्या मंदिर के गर्भगृह में स्थापित की गई है वो किस शिला से बनी है और वह कहाँ से लायी गई है?
इस शिला का नाम शालिग्राम है जो की भगवान विष्णु का ही एक रूप माना जाता है, क्योंकि हमारे सनातन धर्म के अनुसार प्रभु श्रीराम श्रीहरि के सातवें अवतार ही है, तो इसीलिए इस शिला का उपयोग किया गया है।
यह शिला नेपाल के काली गंडक नदी में पाया जाता है, जो की दामोदर कुंड से निकलती है और गणेश्वरधाम गंडकी से लगभग 85किमी उत्तर में है। यह स्थान समुद्रतल से 6,000फीट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। लोगो का मानना है कि यह करोड़ो साल पुराना है। इन दोनों शिलाओ का वजन 30टन और 14-15टन है।
