Today, we are sharing the fascinating story of Tablinton.

This is the story of how a small group of amateur but highly motivated medical professionals with an undying love for sports came together to start a journey of fun, frolic and friendship with competitive indoor games as background. Not only did they create a platform for interaction and bonhomie they also happened to unlock the potential of hundreds of other doctors who would otherwise have never recognised their talents and capabilities.

Apart from January 2021, when the event could not be held for Covid-19, Tablinton has been held with great fanfare every year without fail. It gained widespread recognition, and with the support of fellow doctors and friends, the event progressed from being a Jaipur city event to an all Rajasthan involvement, with teams from multiple districts competing in the event. With more than 600 doctors vying for the top honours, Tablinton moved from small and restricted arenas to the imposing SMS International Stadium a couple of years back.

The Tablinton family is steadily growing every year and is about 600 strong today. Initially, Tablinton only had TT and badminton; the second edition saw the introduction of carrom and chess as additional disciplines. The tournament was also thrown open to doctors’ spouses and kids from 2016. Franchisee team events were also introduced in TT and badminton to harness the creativity and dynamism among institutional and corporate owners from the medical fraternity. This not only accorded a professional look to the event, but it also channeled much-needed funds and resources to organize the tournament and upgrade facilities with each passing year.

As the tournament grew in stature, so did the participation. Acknowledgement and support poured in from various quarters. Among the participants, many senior doctors today stand out as sportsmen with relentless energy and enthusiasm, whose mere presence is an embodiment of the competitive spirit. Tablinton 2019 witnessed the introduction of a Mega Auction for the players. In this exclusive event, 16 team owners in badminton and 8 in table tennis got to choose their teams from a pool of players by a process of competitive bidding. It was an exciting and eagerly anticipated event that created the right competitive atmosphere for a tournament of this magnitude. Tablinton Auctions, held every year, has become a dazzling mega event in itself since then.

Another star attraction of the Tablinton is the food counter. The first year of the Tablinton saw snacks and hot & cold beverages arranged and distributed at a limited scale. But since 2016, the food counter became a part and parcel of Tablinton. Managed by seasoned caterers, the food counters are where everyone loves to hang out after a tough match to have a bite and share a relaxed moment of cheerful social bonding. Every year, a few doctors who are accomplished photographers themselves bring their high-end gear to the arena and spend the evening composing brilliant images of players in action and later on sharing those images on social media with interesting comments, quips and one-liners.

Kids these days are becoming more and more reclusive and most of them do not have access to sports and physical activities. We all must ensure that despite the rigorous schedule of the schools and studies the value of physical fitness in life must never be ignored. Tablinton comes as a wonderful source of inspiration for our kids to make them aware of the benefits of sports. It is also an inspiration for all doctors to adopt an attitude for fitness, gamesmanship and healthy competition and a way to share their strengths and positivity in an atmosphere of bonhomie and camaraderie. Doctors are anyway winners for life. It has been about bringing out the best in the medical fraternity.

Every year a glittering prize distribution ceremony marks the culmination of the sports extravaganza, where winners are felicitated by senior cabinet ministers or such similar high-ranking officials . A galaxy of luminaries attends the ceremony that usually features an exquisite fashion show and pulsating musical presentations by doctors and their spouses.

This year, Tablinton is going a step further. A pan-India Doctors' Sports Event, Tablinton India 2022 makes its debut from 23rd to 25th September 2022 at SMS International Stadium & Sports Complex and Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur. Tablinton India will feature contests in Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Carrom and Chess across multiple age categories. This event will be instrumental in spreading the most needed message to the entire medical community that hard work needs to be supplemented with physical and mental fitness, which goes a long way in enhancing both personal well-being and professional competence.

Registration for Tablinton India 2022 would be through the Docs CME app, available on both App Store and Play Store. Docs CME is a novel app in itself for doctors' knowledge sharing, engagement and entertainment. For the first time, all the matches would be concurrently live streamed on Docs CME during the 3 day event.
