ISRO plans to test technology for catching satellites in space with robotic arms. India will launch two key missions this year to dock, refuel, repair, relocate, deorbit, and extend the life of satellites.
The SPADEX mission will test low-impact cooperative docking technology, while the ISRO Servicer Mission will use a tethered debris capture technique. The challenges of tethered space debris capture include precise targeting, tether deployment and control, and de-orbiting. India aims to achieve space missions with 'zero debris' by 2030.

The Sun's Fury: A Ticking Time Bomb
Our Sun, the lifeblood of our planet, isn't always the calm, golden orb we see in the sky. Every 11 years, it undergoes a dramatic transformation, a cosmic rollercoaster ride that can have far-reaching consequences for Earth.
The Sun's Magnetic Flip-Flop
At the heart of this solar spectacle lies the Sun's magnetic field. This invisible force field, generated by the churning of superheated plasma, periodically flips its polarity. As this happens, the Sun's surface becomes a canvas of dark spots, known as sunspots. These spots are regions of intense magnetic activity, where powerful eruptions can occur.
Solar Storms: Nature's Fireworks
During periods of heightened solar activity, known as solar maximum, the Sun unleashes its fury in the form of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Solar flares are intense bursts of radiation, while CMEs are massive clouds of charged particles that can be hurled into space at millions of miles per hour.
A Threat to Our Technological World
While these cosmic events can be awe-inspiring, they also pose a significant threat to our modern, technology-dependent society. A powerful CME can disrupt Earth's magnetic field, inducing geomagnetic storms that can cause widespread power outages, damage satellites, and disrupt communication systems. In extreme cases, such events could even cripple critical infrastructure, leading to societal chaos.
Shielding Ourselves from the Sun's Wrath
Fortunately, Earth's magnetic field acts as a protective shield, deflecting most of the harmful radiation and charged particles. However, as solar activity intensifies, our planet becomes increasingly vulnerable to these cosmic assaults. Scientists closely monitor the Sun's behavior and issue warnings to mitigate the potential impact of solar storms.
By understanding the Sun's 11-year cycle and its associated phenomena, we can better prepare for the next solar maximum and safeguard our technological civilization from the Sun's wrath

SpaceX has achieved a milestone of 100th successful launch of for year 2024. While rest all do not even sum up to this number.
The LEO segment saw the most of the launched and in that too, SpaceX with its 67+ Cluster launches defeated all big time.
INDIA ( ) has launched 3 missions till date in year 2024.

India achieved the remarkable success of 3 in a budget lesser than any sci-fi Hollywood movie.
A few days back ISRO - Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman S. Somanath has received the International Astronautical Federation's prestigious World Space Award at IAC-2024 , Milan for the same.
In the realm of space exploration, where mission budgets often reach astronomical figures, Indian Space Research Organisation stands out as a champion of frugal innovation. But frugal doesn’t imply compromising on quality or scientific goals. Instead, it signifies an emphasis on maximising efficiency and resourcefulness and achieving remarkable feats with minimal expenditure.
How this approach fosters a ripple effect of positive externalities?
Thank you The Telegraph for bringing this out.

ISS is leaking.
1. A leak in a section of the Russian Zvezda module is rated to the highest level of risk in its risk management system.
2. The leak is in a vestibule of the service module known as PrK that separates a docking port from the rest of the module
3. The leak was first detected in 2019 but had recently doubled to nearly 1.7 kilograms per day.
4. The root cause of the leaks is internal and external welds.
5. If the leak worsens, it will lead to loss of a docking port used by Progress and Soyuz spacecraft
