I just came across this pic of Nick Jonas (Priyanka Chopra's Husband) wearing a shirt made out of our very own Solapur bedsheets/chaadar! Which made me wonder...
When all of us travel across the country, along with food, do we also try to encourage the local handlooms and handicrafts?

I feel so bad that with the incredibly variety of fabrics and weaves and embroidered and dyeing techniques, we still choose to ignore them and experiment with them. And then some fancy foreign label makes it famous, we think that it is cool... and Indian fakesters like Sabyasachi start selling them/similar digital patterns at sky high prices.

Just a small request, kindly look at the amazing fashions and fabrics of various regions across India, buy them & actively promote them.

The boss-employee relationship can be a precarious one.
Even the best managers may have difficulty communicating at times, especially if an employee’s behaviour is frustrating.
Whether you’ve been at your job for a few months or more than a decade, it’s important to realize that your words make a big difference in how your boss perceives you.
Here are a few phrases you should avoid.

1. “That isn’t my job.”
You may have a very specific job description, but employees excel by doing whatever it takes to make an employer succeed. Always be ready to do more than expected or learn how to do something new. The result could be more job stability.
2. “I’ll quit if…”
Ultimatums tend to come across as threats, which likely won’t get the results you want. You may even find your boss calling your bluff, sending you straight to the unemployment line.
3. “I can’t come in today.”
An occasional sick day is to be expected but over time, a pattern of calling in can become a problem, whether it’s due to childcare issues, your own ongoing illnesses or just because you don't feel like it.
4. “I can’t afford to pay my bills.”
Frankly, it's not your boss's problem that you can afford things or not. When you accepted your position, you agreed to a salary, which may or may not have increased over time. Your employer’s sole responsibility is to pay that salary. Full stop.
5. “I’m just here to earn a salary.”
It really isn't smart to mention this, whether it's true or not. Employees who go the extra mile and put the needs of the business first will be at the front of the line for raises or promotions. Also, get a hold of yourself and go find a job that you have some passion for.
6. “It’s not my fault.”
When something goes wrong, avoid playing the blame game and instead focus on how you can work as part of a team to make things right.
7. “My last boss did it differently.”
Whether you’re talking about your previous employer or your boss’s predecessor, this information is irrelevant. Your current boss has every right to come up with a new approach.
8. “I can’t.”
In general, you should strike the word “can’t” from your vocabulary, but this is especially true when your boss asks you to do something. Always show a willingness to give your best effort.
9. “You didn’t tell me to do that.”
Even if your boss neglected to mention something, pointing that out won’t win you any points. Instead take the high road and promise to get right on whatever task needs to be done.
10. “I’m so sleepy.”
Even if you’ve been up all night working or caring for your infant, your boss doesn’t need to know about it.
11. “It’s unfair.”
Comparing yourself to co-workers only makes you look petty and jealous. Instead highlight your own attributes and impress your boss by executing your duties well. Avoid pointing out any preferential treatment you believe others may be getting.
12. “Sorry I’m late -- I had a job interview.”
It may seem crazy, but this happens more than you might think. No matter how strong your relationship is with a supervisor, there's no need to mention this. If you choose to look for a job, do so behind the scenes, during lunch breaks or after hours.
13. “I’m bored."
Instead of complaining about your empty to-do list, look around for ways you can help others lighten their workload. If you’re ready for more responsibility, let your boss know you want to tackle additional challenges and name specific things you’d like to learn.
14. “You’re wrong.”
At some point in your working relationship, your superior will be wrong. When that happens, point it out diplomatically, using words like, “I might be mistaken, but I thought…” instead of bluntly insulting your boss. If you correct your boss the right way, they may end up respecting and trusting you more.
15. “I quit.”
No matter how hard things get, never utter those two words in the heat of the moment. Always resign with two-weeks’ notice and only after you have a plan for replacing your income. More than that, look for a job or a team of people that won't leave you on the edge of quitting so easily.

The business plan is commonly, and mistakenly, thought of as the Holy Grail or template for success. It's more than often the direction you're pointed if you have an idea and talk to any old-school business person, corporate lifer or institutional banker at least when it comes to getting your startup idea off the ground.

It's simply a default response or knee-jerk reaction: "Sure, send me your business plan, and I'll take a look." The reality is, if you're taking advice from these people early on, you're barking up the wrong tree, because that formal plan you're going to spend an inordinate amount of time putting together is going to do more harm than good.

Here are four reasons you’re wasting your time.

1. The formal structure doesn't apply to the real world.
The traditional business plan is typically made of around eight sections: an executive summary, company summary, products and services, market analysis summary, strategy and implantation summary, management summary, financial plan and an appendix -- all of which have somewhere between three and 10 subsections. This creates a document that runs upwards of 40 pages and takes weeks, or even months, to create.

Guess what? People as a whole are now accustomed to getting short bursts of information because our attention spans have been shortened over time, so this epic novel of a plan is going to do a great job of occupying space on your intended reader’s hard drive or collecting dust on their desk -- but it’s not likely to get read.

2. It's going to change on day one.
Here’s another problem: The second you go to implement this magical plan that you spent countless hours (or weeks or months) preparing, nearly every single detail is going to fly out the window - literally, all of them. The reason for this is because there is no way to get a true understanding of how your potential customers or the overall markets are going to respond to you, your product or your company, until you go and begin to execute and gather feedback. From there, you’ll need to pay attention to the response and quickly adjust to it to improve.

3. Those conservative projections you came up with are insane.
I’ll admit that there is an aspect of the business plan that is valuable: the financials. This is one of the very few areas that require some in-depth understanding prior to launching into a new venture so that you don’t get months, or years, down the road to find that the business you’ve been working to build isn’t financially viable.

With that said, the financial projections that you're going to create beyond six months out is a complete fantasy. You’re going to call them conservative, but in reality, they’re going to be a pipe dream of the riches you intend to accumulate. They're nice to have and ogle at, but they mean almost nothing until you accomplish them.

4. If you're using it to raise money early on, you're talking to the wrong people.
When you start a new business and are interested in raising some funds to help build it, there are a number of places you can go, such as family or friends, angel investors, crowdfunding or a traditional bank. The difficulty is that only one of these potential investors will even read your epic novel of a business plan, and it’s the least likely to actually give you a loan -- the bank. Even if you have exceptional credit, the likelihood of receiving a startup loan or line of credit from a bank without personally guaranteeing it -- which you should never ever do -- is pretty much zero.

Having your ideas and how you intend to execute them in writing is certainly important, as it helps to hash out the potential pain points and pull the business concepts together. But going through the structured ritual of creating a traditional business plan, which takes an insane amount of time, is a process that has little relevance to today’s fast moving startups. So, instead, create a 10-page pitch deck, which is a more concise and visual version of your plan, and you’ll be better prepared to raise some funding and accomplish your early goals.

Steve Jobs' reaction to this insult shows why he was such a great CEO

It's 1997, and Steve Jobs has just returned to the company he was fired from 12 years before.
On stage at Apple's World Wide Developers Conference, Jobs was holding a rare Q&A with developers when one audience member stood up and lobbed an insult at Jobs.

"Mr. Jobs, you're a bright and influential man," he starts out with a flat tone. The audience laughs in the pause.

"Here it comes," Job responds with a smile.
"It's sad and clear that on several counts you've discussed, you don't know what you're talking about. [Audience laughter]. I would like, for example, for you to express in clear terms how, say, Java and any of its incarnations addresses the ideas embodied in OpenDoc. And when you're finished with that, perhaps you can tell us what you personally have been doing for the last seven years," he says.
At that point, the audience fell quiet and someone is heard saying "Ouch." (Jobs had spent the last seven years not at Apple.)
"Mistakes will be made"

Jobs' response in the five minutes that follows is a masterclass in how to gracefully turn an insult into an impromptu speech on vision.
First, Jobs politely responds.

" You know, you can please some of the people some of the time, but....," Jobs paused. "One of the hardest things when you're trying to effect change is that people like this gentleman are right in some areas."

He acknowledges that there are things OpenDoc does that he's not even familiar with, but that doesn't stop him in planning Apple's future.

"The hardest thing is: how does that fit in to a cohesive, larger vision, that's going to allow you to sell 8 billion dollars, 10 billion dollars of product a year? And, one of the things I've always found is that you've got to start with the customer experience and work backwards for the technology". You can't start with the technology and try to figure out where you're going to try to sell it. And I made this mistake probably more than anybody else in this room. And I got the scar tissue to prove it. And I know that it's the case," Jobs said.

" And as we have tried to come up with a strategy and a vision for Apple, it started with 'What incredible benefits can we give to the customer? Where can we take the customer?' Not starting with 'Let's sit down with the engineers and figure out what awesome technology we have and then how are we going to market that?' And I think that's the right path to take," Jobs continued.

He apologizes for killing off some of the software, but passionately stands by his employees who were working hard to get Apple back to the place where he could hold up a box and people would go "Whoa! Yes!" and want it. (Think about what Apple events are like today...)

" Mistakes will be made, some people will be pi**ed off, some people will not know what they're talking about, but I think it's so much better than where things were not very long ago. And I think we're going to get there," Jobs concludes.
