* Turning Point & The Discovery Of Homoeopathy:

--> Hahnemann’s Dissatisfaction Towards Orthodox Treatment:

Practically the whole of the 18th century in Europe was marked by a plethora of theories & hypothesis concerning the nature of the disease & Its causation. Consequently methods of therapeutics practice were as numerous & divers the theories propounded. The uncertainty & Lack of any fixed principle of Healing Disappointed Him.

* Devotion To Translate Medical Books: -

--> But what did Hahnemann do when he had become Convinced of the In futility & Mischievousness of the current orthodox medical Methods? Did he continue the routine practice for the sake of making money or for living? No! Like a Nobel & honest man, he refused to make pretence of curing where he believed he DID NOT CURE. He relinquished medical practice & devoted himself to the translation of great medical classics of his time.

* 1790 – The translation of Cullen’s Materia Medica & DISCOVERY of HOMOEOPATHY:-

--> In 1790, When Hahnemann was engaged in Translating Cullen’s Materia Medica from English to German, his attention was arrested by the remark of the author that Cinchona bark cured malaria because of its bitterness & tonic effects of stomach. This explanation appeared unsatisfactory to Hahnemann so, Hahnemann did something quite extraordinary He took the Medicine himself, Hahnemann says, “I took by way of experiment, twice a day, and four drams of good china. To his surprise, he found that it produced all the symptoms of malaria. If He repeated the drug, the symptoms appeared & if he stopped the drug the symptoms disappeared. This was followed by a deep study of a number of drugs on different healthy individuals. This task of experimentation continued nearly for 6 yrs & the result were the same whenever a substance was taken in the material dose, it would make a healthy person sick & produce certain symptoms. The same drug in minute doses could make a sick person well, provided the symptoms were the same.

Finally in the year 1796 after 6 years of his first experiment, he published an essay New Principles for Ascertaining the Curative Power of Drugs & Some Examination of the Previous Principles. This essay for the First time explained the Law of Similar which promised order in the chaotic field of medicine which was published in Hufeland’s Journal Vol. 2, Parts 3 & 4, Pages 391-349 & 456-561. He thus put forwarded his new doctrine of Similia Similibus Curantur (Like Cures Like) in contrast to the age old doctrine of Contraria Contrariis Curantur (opposite Cures Opposite).

In 1805, he published Medicine of Experience & his Organon der Rationellen Heilkinde (i.e. Organon of the Rational Art of Healing) was published in 1810. In this book, he outlined & explained the concepts & methodology of Homoeopathy & criticized other methods of treatment especially the prevailing one which he called Allopathy.

After a long journey Hahnemann breath his last on 2 july 1843 at 5 am.
