📖 In 1966 Eduard Uspensky wrote “Crocodile Gena and His Friends.” At that time, most of the oranges in the Soviet Union came from Israel by “Orange Deal” of 1964.

And according to the legend, Cheburashka appeared in one of those crates. When the fruit seller opened the box, instead of citrus he found a small furry creature with huge ears. That’s how Cheburashka was “born.”
