One year ago, during all the chaos of October 7th 2023,
the place considered to be a symbol of embodied joy, love, and unity – THE DANCEFLOOR,
was completely shattered.
I wasn't present at that “Nova Music Festival” in which hundreds of people lost their lives or had been kidnapped... but some of my colleagues from the music industry were there.
As a musician & a DJ, I knew that the world I came from –
the world of electronic music that gives the freedom to dance freely & to love unconditionally,
would never be the same again.
By October 8th, I wrote a song based on a timeless party anthem that everyone knows.
But this time, it sounded completely different, transformed into a song of remembrance, describing the unimaginable story and the painful emotions I felt back then.
I rushed to the studio, together with producer Omer Lempert and vocalist Adva Sepkuty to record the song. I remember how hard it was for me to sing while so many tears shading
in the studio.
All I wanted is officially release the song, to share it with the world as it is, so everyone would know how absurd it is… going to a music festival of love and not return from it, while facing so much fear & pain.
But unfortunately, after months of waiting for an answer from the original song rights holders abroad, the answer was no – so I cannot do an official release of the song as it is. I thought about changing it, maybe writing something different… but I simply couldn’t.
So, even though the song won't be released commercially, on this difficult day, I choose to invite you to listen to it privately, unofficially, and temporarily –
In memory of the hundreds that didn't survive that party and the hostages that were taken from it –
Some are still there, one year later, waiting …
to DANCE AGAIN.
