Amazon just changed how they pay you when your inventory goes missing.

Most FBA sellers don't know about this yet.

Here's what changed:

Before → reimbursements for lost or damaged warehouse inventory were based on your selling price.

Now → they're based on your manufacturing cost.

If you haven't entered your manufacturing cost in Seller Central, Amazon decides the number. And their number is almost always lower than yours.

What to do right now:

Go to Seller Central → Manage Inventory → enter manufacturing cost for every product
Check packaging on anything fragile
Start monitoring your reimbursements — don't wait for a problem to find you
One more thing coming soon: Amazon is moving toward cross-referencing product values when you use them as their freight company too. Another reason to always work with an independent freight forwarder.

As usual — Amazon wants the whole cake. 🎂
