The Committee and members of Wicklow Rowing Club would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of our long time friend and fellow rower, Ken Cunningham who sadly passed last night.
Ken will be dearly missed by all at WRC as well as his clubs, Dalkey, St Patrickโ€™s rowing club and the wider rowing community. There is so much that can be said but mere words could not do justice . We shall all say goodbye at his funeral service on Saturday where a large club presence is expected.
Rest in Peace ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

After weeks of rowing, the lads are just 51 nautical miles from land and coming in hot! ๐Ÿ”ฅ
โ€ข
Currently flying along at 3.4 knots the ETA using the most recent data from the tracker is showing a predicted finishing time tomorrow of 10:05 UTC (06:05 Antigua time) HOWEVER with the building weather, this ETA has been dropping throughout the day, and could be considerably earlier. Keep an eye on the tracker for the latest updates from an ETA perspective. ๐Ÿ‘€
โ€ข
Something that we MIGHT see happen, is a shared live stream. Currently Atlantic Bro-ing are predicted to cross the finish line at 10:05 UTC, and Sam Glover from the Entrepreneur Ship is predicted to cross 10 minutes later! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
โ€ข
And actually, that will really be crazy, because Atlantic Bro-ing left 10 minutes earlier than Sam, so once the times are adjusted for the delayed start, the current estimated finish splits these two teams by TWO SECONDS!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿคฏ
โ€ข
Regardless - our Irish legends are almost home, and tomorrow is going to be INCREDIBLY emotional!! ๐Ÿ˜

The committee and members of Wicklow rowing Club would like to extend our sympathies to the family and friends of Paddy Byrne . Paddy was a longtime supporter of the club and former Cox as was his legendary brother Johnny. May he rest in peace .๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

The very best of luck to club Juniors Ella Murphy and Keira Tyndall who will be competing in the Irish Indoor rowing championship in the University of Limerick today 20th January. They will be all doing the 500m sprint and their 1st time competing. We wish them the very best of luck ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€

19/01/2024

The latest World's Toughest Row ETA for the lads to reach Antigua is between the 23rd and 24th January ๐Ÿฅณ
โ€ข
That's this Tuesday-Wednesday! ๐Ÿคฏ
โ€ข
After what has been a phenomenal 37 days so far, this incredible expedition is almost over ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
โ€ข
Just 4 or 5 days left on the water for the Irish pair, and what an amazing privilege it has been to follow what they have been doing all this time. ๐Ÿ™
โ€ข
Final straight team! ๐Ÿ‡

Wicklow County Council approves crucial plot transfer to Wicklow Rowing Club 14/01/2024

Very many thanks to Wicklow County Council, Wicklow Municipal District Council and Cllr Gail Dunne for their assistance and support getting this transfer completed. Our club chairman Robert Dunne stated that this is one of the final hurdles crossed on what has been a long process of Design,Planning and legal requirements on the road to getting our new clubhouse completed. Fundraising is the last big challenge and all going well the building work could begin in the latter end of this year. Again many thanks to Cllr Gail Dunne who has worked with the club tirelessly from the pre planning stage also to his fellow municipal & county councillors who supported the transfer
