The Thomond Wind Ensemble under the musical direction of Dr. Andrew Jordan is a wind orchestra performing wind band repertoire at the highest level, showcasing the talent of woodwind, brass and percussion players from around the Mid West area of Ireland.

What a day!! Thomond Wind Ensemble takes second place in the National Band Championships of Ireland!! Along with our principal bassoon player Michael Dooley taking best instrumentalist in the competition! Congratulations to our friends in Dublin Concert Band taking 1st place. And thank you to all in Ardee for the wonderful hospitality.

Next Wednesday 13th Thomond Wind Ensemble in concert with the Texas A&M Wind Symphony. The Texas A&M Wind Symphony is the premier concert band at Texas A&M University, made up of the institution’s top wind and percussion musicians. It performs a wide range of repertoire—from early chamber works to contemporary wind band compositions—and is known for its high performance standards.

We’re absolutely delighted to be making our debut at the National Band Championships of Ireland this year on Sat 9th May! 🎶
The Championships will take place in Ardee, Co. Louth, and we’re proud to represent the Mid West in our section. It’s a fantastic opportunity to perform, compete, and share music with bands from across the country.
We’re also really looking forward to catching up with familiar faces and making new connections along the way—best of luck to all bands taking part!
