playing with his band Taste at the Mothers Of Erdington in Birmingham, UK on this day in 1970, also on the bill was Mott The Hoople. This is probably the earliest photo of Rory playing his 1966 Telecaster which he later that year refinished white.

Happy New Year! On this day in 1970 Rory’s band Taste released their second album ‘On the Boards’. Lester Bangs in Rolling Stone gave a very positive review of the album: “The band is so tight and compelling, the songs so affecting, and the experiments and improvisations so clearly thought-out, that it seems a shame even to suggest that Taste be classed in any way with that great puddle of British blues bands. Everybody else is just wood shedding; Taste have arrived.” What’s your favourite song on the album?
