Paul, wanted you to know how much I love my bespoke fiddle, created 7 years ago by you. I have to say my fiddle is the love of my life! Always such a joy to play... Glorious sound and everyone loves hearing it as much as I enjoy playing it! Thank you so much! 🎻 🎶 💕
Paul thank you so much for the lovely job you did on restoring our very old & precious violin. It sounds beautiful and now my son is enjoying playing his great grandad's violin. Much appreciated. 😊

A violin maker for fifteen years. His clients include Altan, Fidil, Frankie Gavin. His instruments are played in two Irish orchestras and overseas.

Eugene McKenna from Tyrone playing a tune the day that he received his newly commissioned violin from me.
The tune here is #ChristyBarrysJig. Eugene plays with the #blackwaterceiliband. He recently performed Irish TV channel TG4 and is widely recognised as one of the most talented young players of Traditional Irish Music in Ireland with a voice and expression of his own.

My latest violin inspired by the Alard by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù.
It sounds great.
A few more finishing touches and a bit of playing and it will be on its way to its new owner.

This evening on TG4 Eugene MacCionnaith (McKenna) will be playing a fiddle that I made four years ago for his sister Sinéad.(Sinéad played in the All- Ireland Fiddle Championship final on the instrument filmed here)
Since the programme was filmed, Eugene has bought a new violin from me, the second Paul Bradley fiddle in the McKenna household.
Great music from these four top class musicians!
Beidh cuid de mo chairde ag seinm ar an gclár Sruth um tráthnóna seo agus beidh Eugene MacCionnaith ag seinm ar fidil a rinne mé féin ceithre bhliain ó shin dona dheirfiúr Sinéad. Cheannaigh Eugene féin fidil úr uaim seal beag i ndhiadh go raibh an clár seo déanta.
Ceol den scoth sbatto ar aon nós!

Eugene McKenna from County Tyrone is the proud owner of one of my most recent violins (and what a great player he is!)
"It has the perfect balance between lower and upper registers and is so easy to play that it seems to do the work for you."

In creating this violin ( finishing touches to be completed), I have tried to capture the visual impact of the original instrument, leaving a lot of texture and tool marks, and deep gouging along the purfling channel in the style of #guarneri #delgesù.
It is a powerful sounding instrument with rich dark tones on the mid and lower registers whilst the upper registers are clear and bright.

My recent copy of il #Cannone, a violin by #guarneri #DelGesù, 1743, the violin played by #paganini, perfectly superimposed on a picture of the original front.
(Excuse the lighting)
A powerful, clear, direct sounding instrument, with rich, dark, smooth, lower and mid registers suitable for a soloist.

A lot of new instruments coming out of the wood in my studio...

[10/06/20]   I had a lovely compliment recently about one of my violins from the great player Seamus Maguire, (West Ocean String Quartet/ Buttons and Bows).

"I loved its bright attractive tone and its responsiveness - beautiful work, well done!

Thanks Seamus. Delighted that my work speaks to a player who has such an informed appreciation of fine instruments.
