IN ART

The Ballybane Youth Shed was set up by Donal Lynch a while back at the Community Hub. I teach arts/crafts to kids there during Summer-every 2nd week and at Easter, October mid term. 10yrs plus. It's free so if your kiddo is interested in creativity get in contact with The Ballybane Community Hub
We took part in the Cruinniú na nÓg festival on Saturday June 7th. It is an excellent day of creativity for children right across the country-all free-and lots to do- a very enjoyable day-we were really very busy all day. Parents brought there kids to us where they sprayed their own tee shirts (child friendly sprays). Butterflies, dragons, motorbikes, soccer players, damsel flies, birds, flower, timepieces and I forgot to get photos f them all-there were so many. The younger kids painted rocks and some kids wood burned maps. They really enjoyed it as did we. Sarah Passman ceramics thanks for all the help. Here is a sign the kids at the youth shed made-we have done lots of spray painting t shirts in classes, made this lovely colourful sign, rock painting, mode building and a few other bits this year.

Have some gothic drawings, a Misty morning in Merlin Woods in the east side arts festival exhibition curated by Hugh Murphy. In the Ballybane Scull centre. It runs for a few days. Merlin Castle and the Aurora Borealis last night. I went down abouut 8 and it got very very bright between 11 and 1.

I have been holding art and crafts the past couple of years for older people in Ballybane. This is a project we've done over the past couple of months -a model of Merlin Castle using upcylced materials plus a 3d map of Merlin woods and hospital and a 'recycled forest' from a tree that blew down. There are some animals and drawings of wildlife using waste materials (except for the paint). Thanks very much to Galway City Council and Creative Ireland for supporting this project. It will be on display in Ballybane Library for the month of September from the 3rd. Thanks to Ballybane resource centre for the use of the room.

Some of the work I have in The Limelight Gallery exhibition in Oranmore for Culture Night. Still there for this coming week. Pastel on paper. There's a field full of horses across from my studio and they are something I used draw as a kid so decided to do a few equestrian images for this exhibition. This exhibition will be running for a few weeks actually til 3rd week in October.
