Last week, we welcomed students from over 30 schools to our offices as part of our Step In Experience.

The students took part in a series of workshops facilitated by Susan Hayes Culleton, and met with ALG employees, who provided mentoring during the programme.

ALG is wrapping up with donations to our partners Simon Community Northern Ireland and Depaul Ireland. Ending Homelessness. We have delivered over 400 toys and gifts to HOPE Hands On Peer Education, One Family, SVP - Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland, ypar and the Jesuit Refugee Service Ireland.

Thank you to everyone at ALG for embracing the festive spirit with a series of fundraising activities including coffee mornings, choir performances, toy appeal gifting and hamper donations. We are proud to support our charity partners in providing vital services to the community.

Last week, our ALG Book Club hosted a Christmas Book Club Special.

Following a festive discussion on this month’s book choices with pizza and treats, a secret Santa was held and everyone went home with a surprise book.

As an ally of the disAbility Legal Network, ALG is proud to share their recently published accessible events guide in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2023 which took place earlier this month on Sunday 3 December. The guide will assist event teams in the legal sector to plan and host events that are inclusive and accessible. A key goal is to promote disability inclusion in the legal sector and maximise opportunities to build professional networks.

Caoimhe Grogan, Solicitor at ALG and Vice-Chairperson of the Committee said: "Attendance at events is important for professional development and building business networks for those working in law. We firmly believe that improving the accessibility of events in our sector will support career advancement for people with disabilities in law."

has welcomed five newly qualified solicitors to its 130-strong team of lawyers and business support professionals in Northern Ireland.

Niamh Flanagan, Liam Fox and Holly Johnston will all assume assistant solicitor roles in the firm’s Litigation department, with Eoin Culliton joining the Banking team and Lauren Hudson the Employment team.

Having completed their two-year training contracts, the five solicitors will commence their careers in ALG at time when new and emerging talent continues to play a crucial role in the firm’s growth.

Congratulations to our Legal Placement student, Francis Quinn, who won the National Moot Court Competition 2023 alongside his teammates from the University of Galway! Well done to all 👏

Today is World AIDS day and our ally group is proud to in partnership with HIV Ireland and the OUTLaw Network. This campaign strives to eliminate HIV related stigma by 2030. ALG colleagues came together across the firm to wear red, showing their support for, and solidarity with, people living with HIV/AIDS.

On Sunday evening, the kicked off the festive season in style with their wonderful annual concert in aid of Depaul Ireland. Ending Homelessness. Clients, family and friends joined us in the beautiful surroundings of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, as the ALG Choir and musicians treated everyone to a selection of festive tunes along with some very special solo performances.

This annual event supports Depaul Ireland whose mission is to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and donated on the evening. So far we have raised over €17,000. Well done to all involved, in particular to Anna-Marie Curran, our choir director.

One of our 2021 , Zara Murphy, was selected to represent the Law Society of Ireland in the annual Foreign Direct Investment Arbitration Moot Competition this year hosted by the National Law University Lucknow, India.

Zara formed part of the inaugural Law Society of Ireland team to compete in this leading international investor-state arbitration moot. Well done Zara 👏
