SAFE TO CREATE is a Dignity at Work programme for the Irish arts and creative sectors.
SAFE TO CREATE is a Dignity at Work programme looking to effect change on the culture and practices of the Arts and Creative sectors. It is managed by Irish Theatre Institute, in partnership with the Arts Council, Screen Ireland and Minding Creative Minds, on behalf of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
Do you work in an arts or creative sector organisation?
Has your organisation signed up to the Dignity in the Workplace Code of Behaviour yet?
The Code of Behaviour sets a clear, robust standard for how allegations of harmful behaviour should be addressed across the arts and creative sectors. It was developed to ensure everyone working in the arts understands their rights and responsibilities when it comes to dignity and respect at work.
We're encouraging arts organisations and individuals to formally sign up and publicly demonstrate their commitment to implementing the Code.
Signing up is straightforward. We have a step-by-step guide to the process, as well as an Easy-to-Read version of the Code to support accessibility.

Our training supports safer, more inclusive and accountable working environments and can be delivered directly within organisations or to groups of organisations working together. Safe to Create can come to you, delivering tailored training in your workplace or local area to meet the needs of your team, organisation or network.
We're currently prioritising opportunities that can engage 20+ participants.

Artist, vocalist, and creative producer Robbie Blake is a strong advocate for Safe to Create and encourages colleagues across the music sector to engage with its work.
They recognise that many people feel existing systems and workplace cultures can be difficult to change, but believe that progress happens through ongoing conversation, advocacy, and practical action.
Robbie believes that the more artists and arts workers raise expectations around dignity, respect, and safe working conditions—including through contracts and workplace agreements where possible—the more the sector can move towards fairer power dynamics and stronger protections for individuals.

As we celebrate Pride, Safe to Create remains committed to supporting fair access, meaningful participation, and positive outcomes for everyone across the arts and creative sectors. Through our online resources, guidance, and training programmes, we help organisations and individuals build safer, more inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

Looking forward to the festival from June 24 - 28, with the march and parade in the city centre on June 27.

Last week, Safe to Create Project Manager Gráinne Pollak was delighted to attend the first National Seminar on Intercultural Competence and Racial Equity in the Arts, delivered by GORM with the support of Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
The seminar explored how Ireland’s cultural sector can move beyond good intentions and create meaningful, lasting change.
GORM is currently inviting organisations to complete a short expression of interest form to be considered for the Unified Arts pilot programme.
