It's only February and I've already had a case where someone who knew early last year that they would be getting a mortgage this year, has had a recent medical diagnosis that is now delaying them from getting their mortgage protection, which will delay them getting their mortgage. This can be planned well in advance of getting a mortgage and will actually save you money, locking in the premium before another birthday increases it. The main point is once it is in place, it cannot be removed due to a later diagnosis.
