📢 Notice to All Members
It’s that time of year again when everyone deserves a well-earned break!
As we do every year, there will be no monthly club meeting in August, so we won’t be meeting at our usual venue. Enjoy the time off, as we’ll all have plenty to keep us busy in preparation for our next meeting on Tuesday, 8th September.
If you’ve ever thought about joining our club, we’d love to welcome you! Whether you’re experienced or completely new, everyone is welcome. Come along, meet new people, and enjoy being part of a great group.
Have a fantastic August, and we’ll see everyone in September!
Sunflower Children’s Hospice a step closer with planning application
Communities across the region are encouraged to rally around Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation’s plans to bring the Sunflower Children’s Hospice to life
On 23 June 2026 Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation announced submission of its planning application for the landmark Sunflower Children’s Hospice. This pioneering children's hospice in Castlebar, County Mayo will provide specialist care and support for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families and serve eight western counties, including County Roscommon.
The Sunflower Children’s Hospice will become the first children’s hospice to be built outside Dublin and the first new children’s hospice developed in Ireland in over 15 years. Designed as a state-of-the-art in-patient and respite facility, the 36,000 sq. ft. hospice will provide a warm, therapeutic and family-centred environment for children and young adults.
The overall project is expected to cost up to €14 million. The plans were first unveiled in November 2025 and the Foundation has already raised an impressive €7.5 million through community fundraising and donor support.
All sales of images from our exhibition will be donated to
Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation
Last night, our club members officially launched this year’s Annual Exhibition as part of Boyle Arts Festival 2026.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sean Mullarkey for officially opening the exhibition, and to his dearly loved Aunt Catherine for all her help and support in the lead-up to the event. We also want to acknowledge the tremendous work of our committee and members, whose commitment, dedication, and hard work made this exhibition possible.
A special thank you also goes to Tony Murphy. It was wonderful to see such positive energy and high spirits throughout the evening.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who came along to support us and help launch this year’s exhibition. Your presence made the occasion even more special.
This year, all proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to the upcoming new Mayo/Roscommon Children’s Hospice, helping to support an incredibly worthwhile cause.
Our exhibition is now open to the public throughout the festival from 11:00am to 6:00pm until 25th July (closed Sundays and Mondays) at An RĂoga Arts Centre, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
We look forward to welcoming you over the coming days.
