So happy to announce this event coming up at Usada on December 1 st . Please mark your calendar even if it is a month away , as Suki does not come to Bali much these days .
I believe this will sell out so please book your seat .
Suki has photographed and connected with indigenous cultures in many countries for about 30 years so he has many stories to tell . This presentation of some of his work will focus on India where I have been fortunate to travel with him on 3 occasions.

Tonight at usada Ubud come along to hear about an incredibly successful project from the founder which has raised many Balinese from the depths of poverty to have hope for their children’s future.
Muntigunung is a series of villages in Bali’s north. For those trying to find ways to give back and support Balinese people this is an inspiring story.

I am speaking tomorrow night August 15 at Usada about Central Kalimantan a place I have travelled to pretty extensively over the past 12 years. Not just a visual expression of photography but also talking about the Dayak people, the challenges these people face today but also showing a documentary film about a brave young female activist and what she is doing to mobilise a youth movement and protect the environment and culture which is under threat .
Please come join this free event for some discussion and a learning opportunity. We will accept donations to support the upcoming indigenous film festival, being held in Central Kalimantan next week.

I like to read and I like to read books on Indonesia. So I purchased one of Mark Eveleighs books , this one called Kopi Dulu ( coffee first ) about his travels through Indonesia over many years .
From a personal point of view I really enjoyed it as I had visited about 90% of the places he writes about !
I like his free flowing writing style and descriptive stories with a bit of humour and history.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested to know more about what this incredible country has to offer, and especially for those wanting to venture out and embrace its diversity, beauty and welcoming people.
During my 18 years living in Indonesia I have only met 2 or 3 other Bules ( foreigners) who traveled as much as Mark, so make a cup of tea settle into a comfortable armchair and enjoy the ride !
