The scariest permission I gave myself this year was to say no to a version of me I’d outgrown.
For 18 months I stopped following the formula. Let go of an identity that no longer felt true.
I didn’t create or launch anything new until it felt fully aligned.
It felt like a waiting room between versions of myself. Some days like an ego death. I became more invisible and quiet. I felt like my work was in a contraction.
And still - I knew I needed to stay there and wait.
In that liminal space - the mush, the chrysalis, the not knowing - something finally emerged.
It wasn’t a mindset shift. Wasn’t being more productivity. Wasn’t another framework.
It was capacity.
When our nervous system is overloaded, we can know exactly what we want and still struggle to move toward it. I only learned this by building capacity in myself at a time I was at capacity.
If you’ve been in your own waiting room - stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated that you know what you “should” do but can’t seem to move - I’d love for you to join me.

Each week I’ve been experimenting with different ways to build my capacity. It’s become both a personal practice and a curiosity I keep wanting to follow.
For me, capacity is about helping my nervous system feel safe and connected enough to respond to life rather than constantly react to it.
This week, my husband and I went into the reserve near our house at sunset, lay on the ground, drank tea, and listened to the orchestra of birds as the day turned into night.
I noticed my whole system relax as I tuned into nature.
Sound has a profound effect on the nervous system, either activating it or settling it.
Birdsong, in particular, acts as an ancient cue of safety for the human body. Birds generally don’t sing when there is danger nearby, so somewhere deep in the nervous system, their song signals that it’s safe to soften.
If you’ve been feeling at capacity lately, maybe try sitting outside for a few minutes and listening to the birds.
Notice what happens in your body.

No one needs more information right now.
We are at capacity.
The information age has reached a crescendo and people are suffering as a result.
With the relentless saturation of inputs, notifications and AI, people are:
🫥 Checked out or numbed out
🫥 Anxious and overwhelmed
🫥 Foggy and confused
🫥Exhausted and flat
What people need right now, and what more people are beginning to realise, is something almost counterintuitive:
Space to disconnect from endless stimulation.
Regulation for overstimulated nervous systems.
Slow and mindful moments to reconnect with creativity and innovation.
Clarity that comes not from more information but from stillness.
My work has evolved from a lifetime of “more” to the radical simplicity of less.
I have been called to the practice of Gong Fu tea ceremony as a way to help myself and others create space, capacity and insight.
It’s a far cry from my hyper-achieving days in investment banking. But I believe it’s exactly what many people are craving right now.
Recently, I led a tea ceremony with a corporate group who slowly put their phones away, held a warm cup in silence, and simply allowed themselves to be present.
It was incredibly powerful to witness.
No slides. No frameworks. No handouts.
Just presence.
And in presence, we find ourselves again.

What are you waiting for?
So many of us aren’t even aware that we are secretly waiting for someone to come and find us, save us, buy from us, choose us or promote us.
The truth is unless you choose yourself and take aligned action from that place, no one is coming.
So instead of waiting - ask yourself - what is the tiniest action I can take today as vote for myself and what I truly want?

We have this thing in my family where we over-deliver… especially around food.
Someone will say, “let’s just do takeaways,”
and then someone offers a salad,
then someone else brings something homemade…
and suddenly “simple” turns into a fully catered dinner.
Over-delivery in action.
It’s easy to laugh at in moments like this.
But I see this pattern everywhere - especially in women who are capable, thoughtful, and used to holding a lot.
We say yes when we’re already full.
We go above and beyond what’s needed.
We make things more complex than they need to be.
And most of the time… we don’t even realise we’re doing it.
It can feel good in the moment - to be helpful, to be appreciated, to get it right.
But there is often a cost.
Over time it can look like:
feeling stretched
quiet resentment
disconnection from yourself
or feeling like you’re always slightly behind
If this resonates, I’ve just released a podcast on the cost of over-delivering and what you can do about it.
Comment PODCAST and I’ll send it through.

Sri Lanka has always held a special place in my heart, so creating another retreat here this November feels deeply meaningful.
This is an inner and outer journey - for those who love beautiful places, depth, and a sense of adventure.
Many of us can feel a shift…
A quiet knowing that something is changing, even if we can’t quite name it yet or see what is unfolding.
This is a space to return to yourself.
To listen more closely.
To reconnect with your own wisdom and what is ready to emerge next.
Over 7 days, you’ll be guided through self-inquiry, somatic practices, and immersive experiences - woven with the culture, nature, and beauty of Sri Lanka.
Comment RETREAT and I’ll send you the details.
