Project Summary
Joyful Heart Foundation (JHF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established to promote development in deprived communities in the country. Thus JHF is soliciting for funds from individuals and organizations to bring joy to the people in deprived areas. This project will take place at Domeabra, in the Adansi North District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The foundation has identified two proposed projects to be undertaken in the identified community: The construction of a bridge on the Gyimi river and the provision of Computers and ICT facilities at the Domeabra Methodist Basic School in the Adansi District. These projects are to be undertaken simultaneously and expected to be completed within six (6) month, ceteris paribus. According to the traditional leadership in the area, the above projects are among the top priority projects needed to improve living standards in the community. It has been narrated that the dilapidated nature of the bridge has made it difficult for the community members to attend to their farms, especially when the river overflows at its banks. This results in hunger and food wastage (because harvested foods could not be transported to the market). In terms of safety it is also risky for people to use this broken-down facility.
The Methodist Basic School is said to be one of the oldest basic schools in the community. The provision of Information and Computer Technology (ICT) laboratory will facilitate learning and academic performance. Thus to make this proposal achievable, an amount of about GH₵ 123,500.00 is required for the two projects
Project Aim (Broad)
This project is being undertaken to improve the local livelihood of the people of Domeabra in the Adansi community.
Project Objective
1. To rehabilitate the Gyimi river bridge in the community to facilitating movement of people and goods from farm to the community and vice versa. This will ensure timely harvest and delivery to avoid spoilage of crops and other farm product.
2. To provide about hundred (100) set of computers to Domeabra Methodist Basic School to enhance the learning of Information and Computer Technology (ICT).
Making computers accessible to the school will enable the school pupils to have practical knowledge in computer skills and information technology. This will go a long way to improve the performance of pupils in the ICT subject during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). It is therefore estimated that making computers accessible to the pupils will increase their computer knowledge by 50%.
Brief Description of Adansi North District and Domeabra
Adansi Domeabra is located in the Adansi North District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Geographically, the district covers a total area of about 828 km2 as a whole, with Fomena as the capital. Indigenes cross a river called gyimi to their cocoa farms and palm plantations.
Programme Description
