📖 REMNANTS DAILY DEVOTION 🌍
--------------------------------------------------------------------
DATE:: Tuesday, 21 August.

THEME:: THE VOID

*MEMORY TEXT:: "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit." Ecclesiastes 1:14 | KJV

King Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiastes, had wealth beyond measure, wisdom beyond any man of his time or ours, hundreds of women, palaces and gardens that were the envy of kingdoms, the best food and wine, and every form of entertainment available. … And yet he summed up “life under the sun”—life lived as though all there is to life is what we can see with our eyes and experience with our senses—is meaningless.

Why is there such a void?

Because God created us for something beyond what we can experience in the herenow. Solomon said of God, “He has also set eternity in the hearts of men.” In our hearts we are aware that the “here-and-now” is not all that there is.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
DATE:: Wednesday, 9 May.

THEME:: FORMULA OF 5— SPIRITUAL GROWTH - II

Number 1: Connect with God through spiritual input.

Making time daily for godly input and spiritual nourishment is paramount to having a vibrant spiritual life. Jesus affirmed that God’s Word is our source of spiritual nourishment when He quoted the Old Testament verse: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

The Bible is the “word that comes from the mouth of God.” Just as we need to eat physical food every day for sustenance and good health, we need to take in spiritual nourishment every day. If you only have a few minutes to spend with God, don’t skip it and figure that it won’t count or make a difference. Jesus said, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” Don’t miss your daily infilling of “spirit” and “life.”

Where should your spiritual input come from? First and foremost is the Bible, God’s Word. Another source is devotional (or Remnants Daily Devotion), faith-building material (or media) authored by godly men and women. The inspired writings of other Christians can serve to strengthen your faith, open your understanding of the Scriptures, and help you to practically apply God’s Word to your current needs and challenges. To be continued!

THEME:: Escape Stress

MEMORY TEXT:: "Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established." Proverbs 16:3 | KJV

How often do we finally reach a state of peaceful contentment and then wish we could hang out a sign that says, “Do not disturb”?

Of course we can’t prevent disturbances or stressful situations, but when they come, the Bible says God can give us peace inside. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” If we turn to Jesus, He will give us peace. If we are spending time talking with Him in prayer, reading His words, or even just thinking about Him, the Bible says the reward is peace.

At times it may seem impossible for us to remain peaceful inside. Just coping may be difficult. But Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” So when you feel like hanging a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your forehead, remember He has a special brand of peace—eternal, deep, tangible. And it’s available for the asking. To be continued

THEME:: Spiritual Growth for 2018 - PT II

MEMORY TEXT:: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105 | NIV

Each day we are flooded with a barrage of input from a wide variety of delivery systems that try to influence us in one direction or another. Taking time daily to read what God has said provides a way to navigate through the maelstrom of input that we are faced with. It enhances our spiritual ability to discern truth and falsehood. It makes it easier to keep our hearts centered on those things which are important, to living lives of true happiness, inner peace, and alignment with God and His will. It helps us to survive and overcome all that life brings our way. Abiding in God’s Word brings us in regular contact with His Spirit. “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

Carving out the time to read daily is no easy task—it requires self-discipline. Like the workouts and training that maintain our physical conditioning and improve our performance, taking regular time to read God’s Word will strengthen your spirit and make you a stronger Christian—one who is grounded in God’s truth and love. The connection you’ll develop with God will help you be Spirit-led in your daily interactions with others, in your decision making, and in your ability to stay strong in the face of temptations. More to come

THEME:: Enduring Hardship - Part 2

*MEMORY TEXT:: "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."James 1:12 | NIV

Some people struggle for years with afflictions, or under a difficult employer, or at a job they hate. Others, both Christian and non-Christian, are ridiculed and criticized and rejected by others, or even openly persecuted for what they stand for.

As Christians, we can often understand the ways that even our hardships serve to help us, but nonbelievers don’t have the comfort of a Savior who can help them make sense of what they suffer through. We may have a lot of difficulties, but our lives would probably seem comparatively easy to so many who face life without the sense of purpose that our faith provides.

We learn and grow from our troubles. Our struggles teach us how to have more patience, how to hold on, how to cling to God’s promises and “endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ!”—not just for one day or one week or one month, but perhaps for many months or years at a time...To Be continued

DATE:: Monday, 13 March.

THEME:: Sticking to Our Tasks

MEMORY TEXT:: "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:8 (AKJV)

We need patience to accomplish our goals in life. Even when our situation is not ideal, it is important to persevere and make the most of what we have.

Most of us experience times when we are frustrated with our jobs or feel so unappreciated that we want to quit. However, before making a rash decision, we should look to God and His Word for guidance.

Basing our decisions solely on our emotions or circumstances is not a wise thing to do, because these are unstable. If we cannot stick to our tasks through thick and thin, we risk being “double-minded and unstable in all [that we] do.”

To be continued! Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen and Amen.

THEME:: Seven(7) Great Ways to be Humble

MEMORY TEXT:: "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18 | ESV

Most of us wouldn’t mind being a little more humble, but oh, how we hate to be humbled! That hurts our pride, but that kind of pain is good for us if we can welcome it and let it accomplish its purpose. Remember the mantra of Olympians: No pain, no gain!

1. Look for the best in people. Everyone has had some experience you haven’t had and is therefore your superior in that respect. As the American scholar and author George Herbert Palmer (1842–1933) said, “I am defeated, and know it, if I meet any human being from whom I find myself unable to learn anything.”

2. Give sincere compliments. It’s hard to look down on others while telling them what you admire about them. The more you put positive thoughts about others into words, the more good you’ll see in them and the less likely you will be to fall into the egotism trap.

To Be continued! Happy! Happy!! Sabbath Brethren!

THEME:: The Goodness of God

MEMORY TEXT:: "Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. Psalms 52:1| KJV

Good things show up in our lives in a myriad of ways: friends and family, health and happiness, a roof overhead and food on the table, the enjoyment we derive from music, art, and literature. The Bible teaches us that God is the origin of these blessings. “God’s gift to us is the happiness we get from our food and drink and from the work we do. “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.”

These gifts, as wonderful as they are, are just a small illustration of God’s love. How easy it is, in the busy activity of daily living, to overlook the greatest manifestation of God’s goodness—His gift to us in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

We could say that Jesus is the goodness of God made flesh. And this gift leads to another: “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
