Police in Ghana have arrested 74 suspects, including locals and people from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Togo, in operations targeting drug dealing and other crimes. The suspects were arrested in two separate intelligence-led operations. Parcels and sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, 16 motorcycles, and foreign ci******es were seized. According to former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, many Nigerians in South Africa, despite facing xenophobia, prefer to stay due to Nigeria’s worsening economic situation.

. During a meeting with 41 market leaders in Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Soludo disclosed that according to the new Anambra Market law, traders who refuse to open their shops on Mondays will be fined a sum of 20million and their shop will be sealed.

He also mentioned that any trader who opens their shop after it has been sealed, without paying the fine will be charged to pay an additional 20million for violating another law.

Governor Soludo reiterated that nobody will be allowed to cripple the economy of Anambra and any trader that wishes to stay at home on Monday should come and negotiate with the government and there would be an agreed sum of money he/she will be paying to the government weekly(between 5m-500million) for staying at home on Mondays .

Nthabeleng Sello was allegedly gang-raped and murdered by five men in Mpharane, Matatiele, Eastern Cape. Reports say the suspects allegedly took turns assaulting her before killing her.

JUST IN 🚨🚨🚨 Ghana Police arrest Tiktoker "Mahama Aminat" over threats against president Mahama

The Cyber Security Unit of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Mahama Aminat, popularly known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, for allegedly engaging in offensive conduct and issuing threats against the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama.

The suspect was captured in some videos posted on TikTok making insulting remarks about the President, threatening the life of the President and inciting others to harm both the President and his wife.

A joint operation team involving the CVET and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department, arrested the suspect on 20th May, 2026 at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.

Breaking News. The Anambra State Government, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has enacted a strict burial law to stop extravagant funeral practices and reduce financial pressure on bereaved families. The legislation enforces one-day, weekend-only burials and regulates condolence gifts, wake-keeps, and public displays of the deceased.

According to the law, All burials must take place only on a Saturday, stating that Burials from Monday to Friday are strictly prohibited.

He said:

" All burial and funeral ceremonies must be completed within a single day"

Still on its stand, the law stated traditional wake-keep ceremonies have been abolished entirely, saying that all vigil masses and services of songs must end by 9:00 PM, and no food, drinks, live bands, or cultural entertainment are allowed during the evening event.

According to the state government, the law is intended to remove financial burden and pressure on bereaved families and to curb oppressive practices during burials.The law also warns against the blocking of roads and streets during burial ceremonies.

The law also strictly abolished the presentation of expensive items like cows, goats, and bags of rice during condolence visit saying it's illegal. He added that Condolence gifts are now strictly limited to money, one jar of palm wine, one carton of beer, and one crate of soft drinks.

It added that printing and posters of billboards, banners,of the deceased anywhere in the state is strictly prohibited and that anyone who violates these rules will face a penalty of a N100,000 fine and a six month imprisonment, or both. Pls follo OnyeObaBlog for more information
