The Minister for Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on Friday received Letters of Credence from the newly appointed Ambassador-Designate from Hungary to Ghana, Mr Tamas Endre Feher.
The Minister congratulated Mr Feher on his appointment as Ambassador and acknowledged the long standing bonds of friendship between both countries that have yielded positive results.
The Minister mentioned that relations have further strengthened with the official opening of the Hungarian Embassy in Accra and Hungary’s support towards education in Ghana.
The Minister affirmed that the Ministry’s doors are always opened for continuous cooperation and wished Mr Feher a successful tour of duty.

On Friday, the 3rd of September, 2021 the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey welcomed the Ambassador-Designate of the State of Israel to Ghana, H.E Shlomit Sufa as she presented her Letters of Credence to her office.
The Minister congratulated H.E Sufa on her appointment as Ambassador and used the opportunity to acknowledge the cordial and healthy relations existing between Ghana and Israel.
The Minister expressed hope that the ambassador-designate would continue the good works of her predecessor to further strengthen the already great relations between the two countries.

The Minister observed that the #Netherlands was the lead market destination for #Ghana’s non-traditional exports in 2016 and underscore the need to bolster the trade relations between the two countries by leveraging on #Ghana’s hosting of the Secretariat of the AfCFTA.

The Minister acknowledged the long-standing relationship between #Ghana and the #EU dating back to the 1970s and alluded to the fact that the #EU was #Ghana’s largest multinational development trade partner.
The Minister iterated #Ghana’s ready business climate by indicating that #Ghana remains an important FDI destination on the continent as in 2017 where Ghana ranked 7th out of 54 countries.

The Minister congratulated H.E Mrs Mollestad on her appointment and recalled the historic visit to #Ghana by Her Excellency Ms. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of #Norway in June 2019 as well as the visit to #Norway by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in February 2020.
The Minister also acknowledged the support #Ghana received from Norway leading to the country’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2022 to 2023 period and express the hope that both countries can continue to cooperate at that level.

On Wednesday, 18th August 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon Ayorkor Botchwey delivered the opening remarks at the meeting with the ambassadors and high commissioners of @nato member states accredited to #Ghana.
The Minister mentioned Ghana’s early relations with @nato dating back to the tenure of HE John Agyekum Kuffuor when Mr Jaap De Hoop Scheffer visited #Ghana and noted that this was going to be the first time #Ghana was going to be participating in a high-level @nato meeting and how crucial it was for #Ghana to strenghthen its ties with @nato in the fight against terrorism, proliferation of small arms as well as piracy along the Gulf of Guinea.
The Minister of Defence reaffirmed #Ghana’s support for the efforts to tackle the multiple security challenges facing the #ECOWAS sub-region and thanked the countries for their efforts towards addressing those challenges.
In attendance was the Minister of Defense as well as Ambassadors and Heads of Mission of NATO States.

On Wednesday, 18th August 2021, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E Emad Hanna Kamel paid a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayorkor Botchwey on the successful completion of his tour of duty in Ghana.
The minister recalled Ghana’s long-standing relationship with Egypt and the shared ideals and visions in the pioneering role played by both countries for Africa’s unity and development.
The minister mentioned that though his tour of duty in Ghana was brief, HE Kamel had been influential in deepening Ghana- Egypt relations especially in the influential role he played in initiating conversations for the development of Ghana’s railway system as well as linkage to other geographical neighbors.
The minister then expressed hope that HE Kamel’s successor will continue his good work and expand the existing cordial relationship between Ghana and Egypt and wished him well in his next assignments.

On Monday, 16th August 2021, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ayorkor Botchwey held a virtual meeting with the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan.
The minister highlighted the excellent cordial relations that existed between #Ghana and the #UAE and how these relations have yielded fruitful results for both countries’ peoples.
The minister noted the need for clarification around the parliamentary ratification of the agreement for mutual exemption of entry visa requirements for certain passport holders signed between both countries.
The minister also urged her counterpart to use his office to encourage the implementation of an MoU signed in 2019 between both countries that will see the establishment of a teaching hospital and a medical university in Ghana.
The Minister expressed hope that the two countries will continue to support each other’s developmental efforts and called for the sustenance of diplomatic relations for mutual benefits to the two countries.

On the 10th of August, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, inaugurated the Multi-Stakeholder Working Group on Ghana’s membership of the #UNSC to support the work of the Ministry and Ghana’s permanent mission to the @unitednations
The Minister, Hon. Shirley Ayokor Botchwey noted that since #Ghana’s admission to the @unitednations in 1957, Ghana has consistently pursued peaceful and balanced strategy in her dealing with other countries based on the principles and objectives of the #UNCharter.
The Minister highlighted Ghana’s commendable efforts in her continuous contribution to @unitednations peacekeeping missions and in mediation and preventive diplomacy across the ECOWAS sub-region.
The Multi-Stakeholder Group is expected to provide the requisite support to #Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York in particular and to the Ministry in general in order to ensure Ghana’s effective participation in the work of the Security Council during its tenure.
The Minister ended by expressing confidence in the inaugurated working group hoping that it will once again prove that Ghana is an indispensable player on the world scene for peace and security.
On the 5th of August, 2021, the Director-General of the Japan External Trade Organisation Office, Mr Hiroaki Sekine, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ayorkor Botchwey.
The Minister highlighted the long standing relations between #Ghana and #Japan and gave the assurance that #Ghana remains committed to deepening the cooperation between both countries for mutual benefit. The Minister assured Mr Sekine of #Ghana’s readiness to support JETRO’s activities so that successful strategic business partnerships between the private sectors of the two countries would be successfully forged.
The Minister noted that the commencement of trading under AfCFTA should encourage Japanese investors to step up their investment engagement in #Ghana, and ultimately, use #Ghana as a springboard to access the continental market size of 1.2 billion people.
The Minister took the opportunity to shower praises on the people of #Japan for successfully hosting the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and wished Mr Sekine a successful tenure of office.

On Monday, 2nd August 2021, the president of #Ghana
@nakufoaddo welcomed the #Angolan president H.E Joāo Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço and his delegation to the Jubilee House as part of the state visit of the #Angolan president to #Ghana.
Bilateral deliberations were held between both countries to enhance the existing relationship between both countries and deepen the cooperation between #Ghana and #Angola in areas of trade and economic relations, people-to-people exchanges education and investment.
Subsequently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration,
Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey together with the Minister for External Affairs, H.E Amb. Tete Antonio, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of cooperation between both governments.

On the 21st of July, 2021 the outgoing Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Alicia Rico Del Pulgar paid a farewell call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, upon the successful completion of her tour of duty in Ghana.
The Minister lauded the outgoing ambassador for the highly distinguished work she did during her tenure and noted how the cordial relations between #Ghana and #Spain were significantly elevated within the period.
