General information

INTRODUCTION The Department of Parks and Gardens holds mass amounts of potential, of both social and economic value, which to date remain untapped. Countries such as India, Kenya, the Netherlands, and many have others proven have proven that successful horticultural and floricultural cultivation can have a significant impact on a nation’s economy and society. Ghana, for that matter, the Department of Parks and Gardens has the potential, and some comparative advantages that can propel the nation onto the global stage as a success story in the international horticulture and floriculture industry. The Department of Parks and Gardens is strategically well positioned to set the ball rolling for the achievement of this feat but the process will need to begin with the restructuring and transformation of the Department of Parks and Gardens to consolidate its technical strengths and build its financial and resource capacities to lead the drive.
