CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION (BREAKING THE CYCLE)
My name is Grace; I am (15) fifteen years old. I come from a family of four (4): My mum, dad and (2) two children. I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, my sister and I went to the big schools, protected by a big securities, went to the best swimming classes, we had rich friends; we were so happy with our lives.
My dad died when I was nine (9) years. He died of cancer. My dad’s family took every property of ours and sacked my mum, I and my sister.
Fear! Fear!! Fear!!! I was raged with fear, thinking of how my mum is going to cater for my sister and I. My mum sold her best cloth, jewelries, and shoes in other to get us an accommodation. My mum started so as to provide us with a two square meal and an education. As young as I was I remember how my mum toiled every morning in other to get money for our school.
Big schools turned into lower class schools, splashes dresses and shoes turned into rags. I was so sad and so my mum couldn’t get her the right medicine whenever she was sick; out of this result she died. My mum harbored pain in her after my sister’s death. She asked herself so many questions, some where (What happened! Where did I go wrong! What did I do to deserve such a treatment from my in laws. So every little thing I do, as young as I was, my mum always shout at me as a result of her depression. Our rent was due and the landlady packed us out of the house because we had no money. At this moment, I began to ask myself, do I have a future? I’m I going to end up like this, moving from the house to the street with my mum? No! No!! Noooo!!! I cried, wept till I cried no more. My mum started selling her body to big men who gave her money and clothes, but then, she never concentrated on me because of the pain she had gone through with her in laws. She saw me as a parasite. I was alone.
At the age of 12(twelve) she left me in a kiosk we stayed in and never looked back, she never came back for me. What will a 12 year old girl be doing on the street without no one’s help. I sold pure water, I became a school dropout and I was sacked from the kiosk. I ended up on the streets. I was neglected. Help! Help!! Help!!! I have been defiled. Out of that defilement, I got pregnant at the age of thirteen (13) years. I am fifteen (15) years and I have a baby of One (1) and half year old. I am beginning to think, what will become of my little daughter, will she follow the same footsteps, what will happen? What! What!! What!!! I am so down and I need help, that is why I am edging each and every parent, single parent, care takers, pastors, evangelists, the president, lawyers, doctors and many more to break the cycle. .
